sync lcd mirror for backup camera

I picked up the sync lcd mirror and harness and tailgate cam. After brief disassembly I've decided the mirror with lcd monitor might not be worth the trouble. The plug into the standard sync electronic mirror a different size than than the factory harness. Does anyone have any photos they can share of there install? And/or have a simple wiring to tap into factory harness to feed an aftermarket LCD screen.

Has anyone done this? If I had more time I would have waited for a truck with this option, but was in a jam and took this one instead.

Thanks in advance. My first ford truck.

Did you get the wiring harness for the mirror as well? I believe that you will need this at a minimum. Where did you get the info on adding the backup camera system to your truck?

I just googled it and found several on Ebay. I contacted the seller and she sent what I needed plus a rear wiring sensor harness I didn't need. Anyway, the rear cam was a snap to install, however, having never been able to get a headliner to be the same upon rewinstall, decided to not attempt the mirror.

Instead I will add a 3-5" LCD to the right of the steering column. I might add a front bumper cam too. I just need to check out the AV section to see if there's a 3-input switch that will allow me to have switch between cams, and an external input NAV from phone, Movies/Video from iPod etc..

It was $300 for rear emblem camera, and wire, rear harness, and sync mirror and wiring.
I am going to sell the mirror assy in one auction and the rear sensor harness in another. Hoping to score $150--more than enough for the LCD, Mount, and Bumper Cam.

Does anyone have the headliner service manual diagram for 09-11 F150 super crew? Having issues around the sunroof and don't want to crease or bend anything.

I've decided to go forward with the install of the factory back-up mirror setup from ebay--thanks to D at Tasca for finding the correct headliner wiring harness for the supercrew with all my options. I'm also installing a 5" monitor with input for a front bumper cam and the rear cam. Front will be quick release and easily moved from behind grill to back of trailer when towing.

Amazing deal. Cam was $49, and $26 ($1 ebay win and $25 shipping form Hong Kong) for the 5" LCD with two inputs, heavy duty no chinese emblems or logos, plain and solid feel.

I love the backup and bumper cam as they appear in the 3.5 monitor but thought to give the headliner wiring a shot now that my cast is off and I can move around a bit, and I had a day off.

Here's what I found on my 10 SCEW FX4.
1. The video wiring that I tapped into for the monitor is in the headliner harness up to the headliner but taped away somewhere.

2. The plugs for the back-up camera mirror and the standard electronic mirror different. The mount on the windshield appears different too.

3. The backup monitor mirror doesn't have clip and is a wedge fit--tap tap tap. However, the male stud glued to the windshield is slightly larger.

4. The trim and headliner com down pretty easily, 6 screws, 7 plastic trim bits and some velcro. However, the wiring harness is taped up like a MF. AND the dash beam has to be loosened to allow the harness to be installed.

5. I'd not recommend anyone try this install unless comfortable fiddling around airbags and really getting electrical tape sticky either replacing the harness or digging for the brown wires.

In the end, I decided to simply plug back into my $19 3.5" monitor and be happy with my front and back-up cam.

6. Dealer called Ford hotline and was told do not attempt, will void warrantee. Joy.

Anyone want a OEM monitor mirror and headliner wiring harness? $100. These were sources from tasca using my 10 FX4 SCREW, Sunroof, sync lux pkg, and tow pkg VIN. Install at own risk. Just email bonjo2 at gmail dot com and we can work out the shipping details and paypal. Expensive lesson.

I've been wanting to add the backup system. But im not sure if I should add the nav screen or the mirror. I would preffer the nav scrren but Im not sure if I can get an oem double din to match my XLT. Not a fan of the lariat double din. Does anyone know where I can obtain the center unit. I've checked ford parts online. Im going into the parts and service at the local delearship but dont want to overpay. oh by the way i got sync.
