Husky mudflags and paint protecting film

Hi, just got my Husky mudflaps and I'm trying to figure out exactly where the paint protective film I got with them is supposed to go. The shapes of the film are a little weird and really don't seem to fit the contour of the wheel well. Is the film supposed to wrap around to the inside of the wheel well a little bit?

I didn't install the protective film, according to the instructions it is suppose to install on fender flare between the flap and the flare. The pre-cut shape didn't make any sense to me.

I don't have fender flares but I'm at the same point you were, the precut shape doesn't make sense.

I didnt use it on my FX4 with the gray plastic flares. On the F250 and Explorer I held the flap in place made a mark a half inch outside where I needed the film, removed the flap then applied the film. I like my film to stick about 1/8th of an inch outside where the flap touches.

the film is for the edge of the mud flap that touches the paint, that way it doesn't rub threw the paint
