Talking Supercharger anyone?

Well put it this way I know there are bolt on kits for the 2009 and up 5.4, but I have yet to find one made for the 4.6 3v and as we all know from Mustang's these engines can make great power and are lighter then the 5.4. So my next project will be to supercharge my 2009 4.6 3v F150. My question is has anyone with either engine done this if so can you post some pics? I'll prob. end up buying a kit for the mustang and custom fit it to my engine and then have a custom tune done on a dyno. But if there is a kit that I dont know of please let me know.

There is only one kit for the 09-10' F-150's and that is from Procharger. All the kits that were available for the 2008's are the same but the 09-10's have a different computer for the trans and most of the blower companies aren't making kits for the new electronics because of the 6.2L coming out.

That being said any of the 2008 kits will bolt right up but you will need a 100% from the ground up custom tune.

If I were you I would look at the Magnuson screw blower for your 4.6L. They are rather inexpensive compared to most and won't put out the huge power like the KB will but you aren't going to be building a bulletproof motor to handle the big boost anyway so you don't need/want a big blower. Putting a big blower on is like running a carb that is too big for the combination. You want a blower that is sized to max out at about 450hp so you get instant torque right off idle. The bigger blowers won't start huffin untill 2500+rpm unless you crank the boost way up (which will cost you $6-8000 in motor work).

So a Magnuson will hit nice and hard down low, the Whipples will hit good down low also. The Saleen blowers aren't bad either but they are pricey.

I have been designing and am almost ready to put an intake into production that will allow the use of a OEM GT500 blower on a 3v 4.6L. It will be sold as a "tuner kit" so customers will need to supply their own heat exchanger system, fuel, injectors, tune, etc but it's a great budget solution. I did the prototype work on a friends stock 07' GT and total cost to source everything and get it tuned was $3350 and the car makes 444rwhp and 426ftlb of torque (which is the max power you want to make without a built motor).

If you are a decent wrench and can wait a few months it may be an option you want to look into.

The key to the whole thing is the tune though. Without a good tuner your screwed.

Any updates on this?? I recently bought a 2010 XLT with 4.6L 3v. 2WD.
I'm looking to add HP & keep the drivability.

Your best bet would be to contact Brenspeed...they've done some some sport tracs and mountaineers with the 4.6 3v

Your best bet would be to get a whipple kit for the 5.4 3v. Since you have a 2010 you are on your own for the tune as whipple does not provide a tune for the 09-10's. The kits will physically fit tho. And when you order the kit, have them swap out the lower intake manifold for a 4.6 3v one from an 05-09 mustang. You might also want to get a larger pulley to keep the boost level down at around 8 psi. The whipple is a 2.3 L and is pullied to provide about 8 psi on the 5.4, on the smaller 4.6 you may end up with 10 or 11 psi if you don't get a larger pulley. And finally get a custom tune from JDM engineering, on a custom setup like you would be doing you won't get a canned tune from whipple anyway, but all out of the box blower tunes from the manufacturers suck.
