2010 Loud 4x4 engagement

Hey, My wife has a new 2010 4x4 Screw that we have noticed that when we put it into 4x4 while moving it makes a loud clunk. We have a very steep approach to our driveway that is gravel so we always go to 4x4 to save tires and keep from digging up the drive. Speed is 30 mph or less and no gas until it shifts. Anyone else have this and did it clear up or do I need to go see the dealer? I have a Dodge Megacab 4x4 2500 and it never has made a peep when it is shifted into 4x4. Thanks Mark

FWIW, the manual does say noises are normal when going in and out of 4wd... M F250 was pretty quiet it only popped twice.

When I switch into 4x4HI, there's some slight sound but it's slight and not loud.

If you don't really need the 4x4 don't use it as sometimes the 4x4 conflicts with the traction control. You could also switch off the TC.

most of the time when ive heard the noise is when you are hitting the throttle as you engage. i dont notice it at all if i just let of the gas for a little bit and switch it while you coast
