Which would you get: RollBak or BakFlip
I had a Roll-n-Lock on my last truck. Loved it. I am thinking about the backflip this time. Only thing I don't like about the backflip is you have to open the tailgate to open the cover. With the roll-n-lock you could access the bed with out having to open the tailgate.
either Rollbak or Bakflip requires you to open the tailgate first. The Rollbak takes up a foot of bed space due to the canister, and it tends to leak more along the tailgate. I prefer the Bakflip, had mine over a 1 year now with no problems. My brother recently got a Rollbak.
That sucks having to open the tailgate all the time. I like the Roll-n-lock, because you don't have to open the tailgate. Also I never had a leaking problem. I get into my bed alot and being able to just slide open the top a little bit makes it nice. I do agree it did take up about 10" of space at the front of the bed. That is a big draw back.
actually I had a RollnLock about 8 years ago and I wasn't impressed. It leaked for me near the tailgate, the vinyl top was really faded after just 2 years, and it rattled alot.

Have you considered the Retrax rolling tonneau??
Still takes up about 11" of the bed space for the canister but everyone seems to love them. Great locking system that will lock ANYWHERE along the track (not just at every 12"), can be opened without opening the tailgate, and the lock is a nice design.
Price appears to be similar to the RollBak, which is why I didn't go with the Retrax and ended up ordering an Extang Solid Fold for a third less.

I can't speak for either but I plan to put a BakFlip Hd on my 2010 when it arrives. I currently have a Roll n Lock and I hate it with a passion. I think it just can't handle the oilfield roads. It currently wont stay closed and I've given up on fixing it since it will go with the truck to auction shortly.
One of my main decision points would be box size: On a short box the rolling tonneaus make the box even smaller....on the 6.5 it's much less of an issue.

BakLiner already has my money. Seems like they really want to try to get a replacement rather than just refund my money. This was the 4th unit but hopefully the next will work correctly. I've just been super unlucky. I love their concept but my unit leaks aweful. While they recognize my defective unit, they've sent me the wrong replacement unit a couple times. I'm kind of stuck just waiting for them to get it right.
Worst part, I suppose, is reading other stories of people having minor problems and getting upgrades their best product. They haven't offered me any upgrades and I even offered to pay the difference. Other people reported their unit falling off the truck out of warranty and being upgraded for free to the F1. Here, I'm a victim of bad luck and poor follow-up yet I'm stuck with their outdated product line.
I had asked about the RollBak because one arrived on accident. I asked about trading to it but they said it'll leak more than the HD, so I guess I appreciate their honesty and will just wait for yet another unit to arrive.

I've had my ROLL N LOCK for 4 years, developed a problem with the side-mount 2 months ago, ROLL N LOCK had it repaired at William Catlin & Sons in Jacksonville, I paid 1 hour labor and they paid for the parts.....
can't beat it!
My vinyl is 4 years old, I think I put the "silicone" crap on only one time, but mine shows NO sign of fading, cracking, or pealing....
EXCELLANT SERVICE! They stand behind their product!
I LOVE MY 4 YEAR OLD ROLL N LOCK!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ROLL N LOCK!
But let an "authorized" dealer do the installation....

Thanks for all the input. I had a BakFlip and ended up having problems with it and sent it back for a partial refund. They tried to royally take advantage of me and I strongly warn anybody about using this company. I'll never consider any of their products. Buyer beware.
