disapointed with ARE cap
My wife picked up out new truck cap/canopy/camper shell, whatever you call it yesterday after 4 weeks of waiting... When she got home, she realized that the paint doesn't match! She took pictures for me and I can see it too! It looks like they used the 2009 silver instead of the 2010 Ingot silver!
I am kinda PO'd with ARE now. She is taking it back on Monday and demanding they fix it and give us a rebate of some kind, or refund all out money and we'll try another brand. After almost 2,500 bucks and 4 weeks, you'd think they could get it right...

I think sometimes the paint on the fiberglass looks a little different from paint on the metal for some reason even though its the same exact color. I noticed it on my last truck, but only I was the only one who could really see it.
+1 You also have the sun reflecting at a different angle, which can cause it to look a little bit different.

Paint is a special skill. I don't think any colors besides black are easy to match. I have even had the local Ford shop paint clips for me and they were a shade or the metallic was off. Air pressure and the spray gun setup is very important to determine how the metallic colors lay down. I think red and silver are the hardest to match.
Fiberglass will liik a little bit different than the metal on your truck. My boss has a truck cap on his grey truck and in the sun it looks a shade lighter but when it isnt bright and sunny it looks dead on. As others have said angles have a lot to do with it too. i have a Jason lid on my truck and I am happy how it turned out
Look at my gallery... There are like 5 pictures at different angles and ALL of them look different. I am not going to accept that this is as close as they can get it... For the price I paid, they could have gotten the paint from Ford and sprayed it... Also, I fail to seel how painting steel would look any different from fiberglass as loing as you put a good primer layer down.
