Question Dealer Order Question

At which point of the order process (if any) is the truck assigned to the customer? I have a suspicion my dealer may have sold my truck to someone else who was willing to pay a higher price…. He first said that the serial number was assigned and then a week later said that according to his boss it was a mistake and was meant for someone else.

What can be done to keep dealers honest to keep them from moving me down in a queue?

It could have been an honest mistake, people don't always communicate properly and things like this happen. With that said, it's a little suspicious that it took a week to notify you of the error. It's possible that someone came in and pushed them a little harder than you did and will be getting their truck sooner but it's a hard thing to prove. In the end you'll get what you want. Remeber, good things come to those who wait.

Go talk some other dealers and see what they have or can offer. It maybe that your dealer doesn't have an allotment from Ford to order it right now. If you find out something different then let the original dealer know you are ready to jump ship.

When I ordered my truck, my last name appeared on the order printout and it was on the window sticker (the bottom line of the optional equipment list) when the truck arrived too.

That's cool. I don't remember my name being on the Mustang I ordered in 2000. It had everything a GT convertible did, sans the engine, so it would have been a hot seller at price, but I had no problems.

I emailed the dealer for the copy of my order. Thanks!
