I wanted to purchase the in-channel type visors but misread the ad and got the other type. Not happy with the way they look. Though I prepped well both have come loose in the front and started rattling at highway speeds. Gonna remove and order the in-channel type now.

Thumbs down

I had both (bugshield and vent visors) on all 3 of my previous F-150's. No idea why, as I don't have either on my '09 Platinum and don't miss them in the slightest. Neither of them ever did anything for me. I'm still baffled as to why I paid for them for all my other trucks.

On a side note, all the bug shields look AWFUL on the 2009 model. Vent Visors, eh if you want to risk noise and the ugliness if they break off on the highway and careen down the side of your vehicles paint (which they will if the bottom front corners start to become loose with age and you open the window and the air pressure difference RIPS them off in milliseconds), then power to you. But please... those bugshields look SO bad on the current model grille.

I think just like the pinstriping went out of style back in 2004, many of these gimmicky margin-boosting items for dealerships have also had their fill. IMO, spend the dough on some useful items like a remote start or some splash guards (they make a world of difference in cleanliness & protection, never mind the chrome tailpipe protection too). Heck, slap a LoJack in there if you have money to burn. Anyways, that's how I feel. To each his own.

I ended up putting a Lund AeroSkin hood protector on my 2010 Lariat and I love the look. It protects the front section of the hood without covering up the top chrome section. I bought mine through Cabelas because they had the best price. Here's a link...http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...135&hasJS=true

i stuck the ford vents on my 05 Screw and they never came off in 5 years, no noticable increase in road noise....

to those who say they are fugly, i always thought they actually enhanced the look of the truck... the F150 has a tapered shape to it's cabin, it's wider below and tapers up, i think the vents make it look less tapered and more "grounded".... but i guess to each their own....

58-year old Newb here - glad I did a search before I started a new thread. But I have learned a thing or two about getting smacked for not searching. :-)

New 2010 XLT owner...and I'm in love all over again. I did have four deflectors on my double cab Tacoma (sooo glad that thing's history), and I did like the looks and the ability to lower the windows for ventillation.

Now - there are conflicting views here on added wind noise. I had dealer-installed visors on the Tacoma, so I don't know how loud the wind "whoosh" was before they were installed...perhaps it was just a noisy ride. But I really did hear lots of wind thru the closed windows.

I enjoy a quiet cab, and while I personally like the looks of the visors (I know some here don't), I would be most appreciative of honest answers with Ford visors' (or any stick-on)wind noise issues. I have seen lots of problems with the in-channel visors, so those are not an option.

I suppose I'm asking if those of you that added visors after having your truck for some period of time - did you notice any significant wind noise after the install?

Many thanks in advance for thoughts/suggestions.

Randy

My AVS Vent Shields add nothing audible especially with the windows closed.

I'm not sure what people mean by wind noise. Is this with the windows down or up? I had vent visors on my Taco, and I now have the in-channel on my SCREW. I don't notice any noise difference. With the windows up it sounds exactly the same as before I put the visors on.
I did notice some noise about 20min after I first installed them. It sounded like the widow was cracked when cars would drive by (30-40mph). The next day after all was completely dry that noise went away. I think it took some time for the window seal to form around the visor. All is good now. And they look much better than the outside mounting ones.

Thanks. The noise on my Tacoma was with all windows closed. It just seemed as if there was quite a bit of "whooshing" outside. I did have a Toyota bug deflector on the hood, and while I doubt that was the source of the noise, I've read elsewhere people have complained about a bug shield being noisy. My vent deflectors were outside-mounted; maybe it was just the design of those deflectors with the design of the Tacoma. Who knows?

Thanks again.

I just installed a set of AVS in-channel ones this afternoon, haven't driven it yet to comment on the wind noise.....but I think they look pretty good.

Were yours AVS ? mine didn't make any noise at all. It was a 2000 TRD, only on front doors. Could be just one of those things.

I'll be doing the real test tomorrow, heading on a 3hr drive to State College.

Could have been AVS - can't really remember. But they were dealer-installed. It could be just that my double-cab was noisy!

I'm interested in how your trip goes....let me know!

Thanks again.

Not the slightest bit of wind noise. It's like they are not even on the truck. I was doing speeds up to 75 mph.
