What you need to do is try it, and see what YOUR fuel mileage difference is. This WILL vary with each individual vehicle and driver. You may lose 30%, but you may only lose 10%.

 

Does E85 have a "cleaning effect" on internal components, similar to all the off-the-shelf injector cleaner additives?

 

Oh, I agree. No 2 people drive exactly the same in the same conditions, but you would think other's experiences would be similar to what you should realistically achieve.

 

Oh, I agree whole heartedly that E85 is an unsustainable fad that will likely disappear once the government subsidies are gone.

...until then, however, if it saves me a few dollars each fill-up with no significant drawbacks, then I'll consider it...

 

I work in the oil and gas industry and I get a morning market update with E85 vs. regular spelled out. Here is what I recieved this morning; "At the Pump: AAA estimated the nationwide average price of regular gasoline at $2.816 this morning; diesel at $2.943; E85 at $2.356. E85 would have to retail at $2.112 to equal regular on a BTU basis" This changes daily, but this is the most up to date that I have.
