GMC tow

This past week I helped my brother-in-law move from Ft Irwin Ca to Sacramento Ca. The trip was about 500 miles. We drove his 09 GMC Sierra SLE, Z71, extended cab. It was my 1st time driving one. I liked the exterior of the truck ok, especially the double hinged rear suicide doors. I wish my Scab did that. He has a leveling kit and oversized (not sure what size) “Mud Dawg” mud tires (never heard of that brand). My F150 felt bigger, inside & out, and its stock. I don’t think he ever recalibrated the speedo. I did like that the GMC had an Info button instead of using the odo stick like in my XLT. And it would display the tranny temp.

So I’m towing this U-Haul, 5X8 cargo trailer weighing about 2000 pounds loaded. About 100 miles into the trip I look @ the MPG computer, it’s telling me I’m getting 22 MPG??? So I reset the computer, fill the tank and when we get home it’s saying 18 MPG???? Is this possible? MY XLT 4X4 gets about 18 MPG mixed driving unloaded not pulling anything. Can this be right??

i would say it's right, chebbie has always had better gas mileage from my experience, my dad's '03 silverado 4x4 gets about 22 hwy, average 19-20 on a bad day....but, on the other hand, the thing is a chintzy piece of (insert explicative)....and the road noise is awful....

It could be right but I have heard that the computer mpg is not accurate. It errs on the high side.

a comparable Great Mistake product (GM) weighs about 500 lbs less than a Ford... The Ford is much more solidly built, so the weight reflects it.

You had 2000 pounds in a U-Haul 5 X 8 trailer?
