No underhood light?

Whats up with no underhood light on the 2010 F150? I just lifted the hood when I got home tonight and no light comes on. Is this standard or is mine just not working? I felt around in the obvious places and it appears that there just isn't one there.

Underhood Light

Underhood Light came with my 04- 6.0L Powerstroke so I could count all my money before the Tow Truck got there. Never seemed to be a repair under 3k anyway.........But I got my 09 F-150 Lariat and life is all good again!

Ford scrapped the underhood light in 2004.

Good to know, but why like I said it should be a standard on all trucks. How much could it cost to add a wire and light bulb at the factory.

I guess that's what I get for only buying a truck every 8 years or so. My 2001 had it...2010 doesn't.

Those are cool, I use one of those trouble lights that you can clip to the battery. They give off more light then the underhood does and I can move it where I need it.

Yep, my '97 and '98 had 'em, my '04 and '09 don't. Just like the Captain's Chairs armrests, for some reason they dissapeared and have yet to make a reappearance. Small gripes compared to many other improvements, but does seem odd.

Heck, they never seem to put out enough light anyway - at least not where you needed it!

You should always carry a flashlight in every vehicle !!
You could always install a high intensity headlight bulb for that purpose.
Are mice nesting in your engine compartment ?

I do always carry a flashlight in the vehicle...had one in it last night. I've only had the truck for 2 days and last night I got curious and popped the hood and that's when I made the discovery. Not a huge deal...just an interesting one...I've just never had a vehicle without that light.

I hardwired a Peak Handheld light with a hook and a magnet to the battery with a inline fuse and store it on the drives side under the hood. It has a ten foot cord and puts out tons of light. Ford can keep their dimmly lit dome light!
