$500 from ford

Ok, I have an 09 XLT screw 4x4 with no frills. I have a $500 gift/credit from Ford. I was thinking about going back and adding another option that my truck did not come with on. I was either thinking of side step to help you get to the stuff in the bed or a hitch. My truck did not come with either as I bought it used in November. I am just looking for some ideas on what I could use this credit for. Any help or opinions/ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Eric

don't know what color your truck is but i'd get the HD heads and tails....i think the oem ones are ugly....i like the oem running boards too...i would'nt waste my money on the side steps cause i don't really know what i'm missing and have gotten by just fine without them up to this point....

Oh yeah! I totally forgot about the HD lights. I don't think $500 would be enough for both sets, but I could hopefully get the headlights because I am planning on tinting the tails this summer when it warms up. Great idea!

I think the hitch would be a nice addition. I'm really not sure why they make and sell trucks without them. At some point you are going to or will need to pull a trailer and having the hitch already will be nice. You should be able to add the hitch and have money left over.

Well the reason I believe my truck doesn't have a hitch is because Enterprise car rental first purchased the truck and they probably did not want their renters pulling trailers and such. I mean I can buy hitch and install it fairly cheap on my own so that is the only reason I would not want to use this credit on something I can buy else where fairly cheap.

If I order new lights should I get the rear or the head lights first? I have a black truck so either set would work out well.

either way, you're going to find out you'll want the other set to match as soon as you put the first set on...i got my tails 3 weeks ago and just ordered the heads today....tasca ford out of Rhode Island gives the best deal on the lights but I'm not sure if they'll honor your credit. But you could get quotes from them and then show them to the dealership you have your credit with. from tasca, both sets of lights should be right around $520, plus shipping and tax...hope this helps!

Well I just called my local Ford dealership and I asked them if they would price match parts from another Ford dealership. I told him the prices of the HD tails from Tasca and I could hear him have a heart attack over the phone. HAHA He told me that it would only be a 5% profit and that he couldn't go under a 25% profit. Then after his breathing steadied, he told me that he doesn't even have those lights and "can't" get the right side. Then he told me it's an extra 10% to have them ordered through them. lol I just laughed. Hopefully he is alright though. HAHA Oh well I can still get them at stealership prices with this credit and have some left over.

I am fine with my liner. I have been eyeing up a storage bin for under the seat that Ford sells, but I will still have plenty extra.

kind of ridiculous they won't price match with tasca, either way the money is going to ford...which was kind of the point of the $500 credit, right? i know your dealer wants to make some money but they should at least meet you half way and give you like an 18% markup or whatever. but i spose it's a business and blah, bla, blah....oh well enjoy the lights!
