It's perfectly alright to apply any wax/sealant to a new vehicle. The Factory paint departments are state of the art and the paint is cured right from the factory and ready to wax.

I will say though that I would still give a new vehicle a clay bar treatment first then apply your favorite wax/sealant. The clay bar will assure a completely clean and smooth surface prepped for wax. New vehicles many time sit on the dealers lots for a time being and can collect any sort of surface contaminants that should be removed with a clay bar.

Take it to a pro to get it done right the first time. Have him do a full correction and finish up with a long-lasting synthetic such as Meguiars M21 2.0 or NXT 2.0. Read up on proper washing and drying procedures to minimize scratches and swirls. Meguiars has a new "wash and wax" product that REALLY works, I'd use that to lengthen the time between wax jobs. You could also get some of the new Meguiars Ultimate Spray Wax to use after wash jobs.

I get mine professionally done once a year. It's worth the $125.

That is because those are painted just like a regular bodyshop would do a paint job, thus requiring a cure time as apposed to the expensive state of the art paint departments that the Factories have which have the technology to cure the paint shortly after it's applied.

I think 6 months is a little excessive. The place I bought my topper recommended 3 months.

I will admit that the stuff from Griot's Garage is great stuff too.

Zaino is not the right product for the OP because there are too many steps involved to do it right.

I think if time, $$$, & effort are no object, then Zymol is the way to go.

Lots of great recommendations for waxes/polishes in this thread, but, allot of them require several steps and complete "process" (nothing wrong with that, but, I like the one step setups most of the time). I used to be a diehard Zymol and P21s user, but, my local supplier recently turned me onto Malco's product line and in particular, one of their new Nano carnuba paste waxes:
http://www.malcopro.com/index.php?pa...art&Itemid=101
Its a great product, that is VERY easy to use (no white residue, and wipes off easily), and is a fraction of the cost of the P21S.

When I use Zaino products, I first wash the car, going top to bottom, with Dawn Ultra® liquid detergent, then I clay the truck. Look for hazy paint, swirl marks or fine scratches. Imperfections are reduced using Zaino's Z-PC Fusion™ paint cleaner and swirl remover. Add a light coat of Z-AIO™ to all paint as the foundation and bonding agent. Remove with clean, soft towels. If I have any slight swirl marks, I use the Z-5 Pro. Again wiping it off when dry with a clean towel. Next comes the Z-2 polish, after which I apply a coat of Z-6 gloss enhancer, followed by another coat of Z-2. You are suppose to only do a coat every 12 hrs, or you can use the accelerator. I finish the truck of with another coat of Z-6, then a coat of the Z-8, Grand Finale. Look on their website for additional information.

Owning a detailing business and working on cars from $30k to $300k one product that I recommend to garage detailers is called FMJ. Menzerna FMJ Full Molecular Jack Paint Sealant. You put it on at the end of your detail. It wipes off easier then any wax on the market and protects your paint better and longer then wax.

Some customers just have to have their cars waxed no matter how good I tell them the sealant is. I did a full detail on a 458 Italia Ferrari that I would always finish with a very good wax and I asked the owner if I could try some thing different and used FMJ on it. All of his cars now have FMJ on them. Try it, its fantastic stuff.

Do you have a link on where this can be purchased? How about some pics to prove your point!

1/year: wash (Meguiar's Gold Class), clay (Clay Magic sold at most auto stores works great & cheaper), wash again. Polish w/ random orbital if needed (based on paint condition determines type of polish. I only use Menzerna polishes, they have a couple different cuts of polish). Then Klasse AIO (all in one) and first coat of Klasse SG (sealant glaze).

I'll put on 3 coats of Klasse Sg if I have time. After that, I'll top it off with S100 (Similar to P21S).

For monthly/bi/weekly washes (whenever I have time), I use Optimum No Rinse (ONR). Every other car wash, I use Optimum Car Wax (OCW) spray.

When needed - clean engine bay/fender walls with Meguair's All Purpose Cleaner +
Engine Bay & Fender walls get Meguiar's Hyper Dressing
Trim/rubber pieces get Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant (new for 2010)
Wheels are cleaned with Griot's Garage Wheel Cleaner
Tires are dressed with Mother's Reflection's Tire Care

I started with Nu-finish and graduated to this level. If I was extremely limited on time all year and realized I'm not providing the best protection and shine, I would simply wash with ONR and use OCW. It would not get any easier than that. Spray waxes have shown to be really durable lately to the point I may not apply S100 or any other wax on top of my Klasse SG.

The one product I could not live without is ONR (optimum no rinse)
