Help with my New 2010 Platinum (Tires/wheels)

I ordered a new Platinum and I've traded in my 2008 Limited. This will be my 4th F150 since 2003 and I have loved everyone of them. However, this time I want to do things a little differently. I have not been much into accessorising my trucks but I have already purchased a bedrug, extang revolution tonno, tailgate assist, chrome bug shield and vent visors, and dvd's for the headrest. I would also like to put a 2" level on the truck and add some new tires and rims. I dont want anything that is too agressive but I want the truck to be a little "meaner."
I have been looking at many posts that have discussed tires and wheels but I am looking for a suggestion that will not rub at all. I would like 20" chrome wheels and some nice tires. I have seen a few pictures in the gallery that look like what I want but I would love suggestions and some specifications on what would not rub. Would 34" tires work and what size would fit with what specific rim size? Are their any websites that sell wheel and large tire packages? All I ever see are the small scorpion tire packages. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. BTW, this forum is amazing. I love how so many people offer such good avice on here and I am addicted. I know there are lots of people that appreciate it.

There are a lot of websites that sell wheel+tire packages. I would recommend Tire Rack if they have what you're looking for. To get 34" or so tires without rubbing you'll need to stick with a wheel that has similar offset to the stock wheels - i.e. doesn't stick out much if at all more.

I have a 10 platinum and just put new wheels and tires on it tonight.they are 8.5x20 with a +32 offset.stock wheels are a +44 offset 8.5x20..So these stick out 1/2" more than stock.the tire is a 275/60/20 (33")all season and they fit perfect .Run a straight edge up the sidewall and you'll see.I don't like the tires to stick out too far. the tread of the tires are almost perfectly even with the fender flare in the front with the sidewall sticking out a little bit. just that little bit makes it look mean.I am going to lower the rear rather than raise the front.I never had good luck raising fronts of trucks. They sit high enough stock for me.sorry i don't have any pics or i would post them.good luck.what color is your truck?

Thanks for the notes JOHNSWC and White Platinum. If you ever get any pics of your truck JOHNWSC i'd love to see those wheels. I ordered a black 2010 Platinum. It is going to be delivered March 1. I have been looking around on here quite a bit to get ideas about things to add to my truck and I love everyones feedback. I noticed a thread on here the other day that talks about what people paid for their trucks. I can't believe some of the deals everyone is getting. When I ordered my truck there were $4000 in rebates and I had the $750 private cash coupon. After my trade in of $35000 (2008 Limited with 15k miles) I had to give $11000. Some of the posters on here were saying they were getting 10 grand off the MSRP with rebates and then their trade. I wish I could have done as good as them. You Platinum owners have anything you do not like about the truck? Or any thing you really like? Like others have said, I could do without the tailgate plate. I hope the Extang tonno works well and the bedrug isn't a nightmare with keeping clean.

^the only thing I don't like is that everyone keeps buying Platinums! There's now 2 others down the street from me and no other 09-10 models. At least I had mine first. I'm not that crazy about the tailgate panel either.

and don't believe all the deals you hear about on here. But $35k for your 08 trade seems like alot, you probably didn't even pay much more than that for it new did you? what's the actual KBB trade in value of your 08 truck? The dealers play with numbers on both ends anyways. My deal a year ago was almost $7k off MSRP sticker, but they gave me $16k on trade for my 04 truck while the online websites said my truck was worth $13k on trade-in.

I know what you mean. I know what they gave me on trade is not a "true" representation of the deal and imo is high, but I also know they have already sold the vehicle and got $36000 out of it. I can't believe someone would pay that much when they could get a new one. I guess since it was in good condition and a new truck with similar features has a MSRP of $49000 some people think that is ok but the sticker on my 08 was only $42000. It is all in the presentation of the deal. They could have said they sold me the vehicle for invoice and gave me 30000 on trade. My trade in value is around 28k. I have been trading in every 2 years for a long time and usually get a decent deal but like i said before, nothing like some of the deals people are claiming to get. I am financing my new truck through Ford Credit and want to pay it off within 2 weeks to lock in a local credit union rate . . . any one see any problems with this (Will I run into a fee from Ford Credit). Also, do all Platinums have second row heated seats standard? Thanks again!

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Unless someone shows me their actual BOS, I take their supposed deals with a grain of salt. Don't lose any sleep over what people say on the internet. Common sense says that no dealers are giving these things away at a loss.

Ford Credit has a penalty if you pay it off before 90 days.

Dang! The last time I refinanced I did so after 1 payment. Anyone know what the charge is for paying off so early?

Not exactly true, "penalty" is to the dealer, NOT the purchaser. This has been discussed at length on other forums. A simple call to Ford Credit will confirm this, many people have paid off the loan days after the purchase without issue, the $1k finance rebate gets charged back to the dealer if the 90 days/$7k minimum finance amount is not met. No worries for you, unless you really love your dealer (in that case, pay off all but the $7k and then pay that off after the 90 days).....either way, the dealer is still making money.

I wonder how long it takes to get the info to the ford credit. I was told by my cu all i need is my account number. I just hope I get that before the 3.74 rate goes off on March 12. (Basically, I have 12 days)
