Cool Changing Exhaust

Thinking of changing my exhaust on my 2009 f150 supper cab would like do go cat back not sure which one would be better looking for some input from someone that has already done it . Which brand and what would be the difference between straight back duals or behind the wheels not looking for loud just a nice rumble that doesn't drive you out of the cab .I also pull a snowmobile trailer and I've herd it is loud with straight back . Thanks George

I personally like the sound of the magnaflow. But when I do it there is no way in hell i'm going to pay $400 plus for a full cat back system. I prefer to use a good muffler shop to do whatever I want for about $200

bullet. I prefer the dynomax bullet to the magnaflow. Either way they both are not expensive if you get a local shop to put a system on for you.

When I was deciding what to do I watched a few YTube vids to listen to the different systems and did a lot of research on the forum here...there is a lot of info from experienced people...just type in your search parameters. I ended up putting on a Magnaflow Kit SI/SO...could not be happier.

Magnaflow FTW! Also because it i stainless steel and won't rust like a flowmaster will.

Had my exhaust custom bent with 45 angles out the back, I would reccomend the angles if you're going to be trailering the sleds, and the exhaust sounds great over bridges (echo) and passing people let's them know you're there!

I went with the Borla Pro xs dual out the rear. Had a local shop install with stainless pipe. Nice sound and gets better every day

You know, I put dual exhaust on my '05 Lariat Screw... it was a cat back flowmaster system. It sounded incredible! HOWEVER, after a few years of it, I was glad to get in a new truck and have it be QUIET inside again... maybe I'm getting old, but the sound started to wear on me over time I guess... I didn't realize it really until I got my Platinum.

I still enjoy hearing other trucks with aftermarket exhaust... then I roll up the window and enjoy the quiet.

The stock exhaust on my '09 actually has a nice note to it at idle, and that is perfectly fine for me.

Just food for thought...

X2 on that thought. Still have my '97 F150 with the flowmaster exhaust and every time I drive it I like my '09 that much more for the peace and quiet, expecially at freeway speeds.

I had a flowmaster on my 06 and agree the drone was annoying after while. The drone on my 09 is barely noticeable with the Borla. Only time I really notice it is during acceleration. It all boils down to your own taste of sound.

Absolutely comes down to personal preference... it seems the older I get the more I enjoy the quiet I guess.

You have peaked my interest with your comment on the Borla... how many miles have you put on since you installed the exhaust? Just wonder if over time it will become louder... or maybe I'm hoping that's your answer so I can save myself from getting the Borla system installed...

I'm in the same boat. I had a Magnaflow on my 2002 Lariat and really liked it. I was thinking of putting a similar setup on my 2010 Platinum. But I really do like the quiet. Maybe I'm an old fart too.

Just an F.Y.I.

I installed the magnaflow 16523 system on my 2010 screw and absolutely love it. Beautiful stainless steel and sounds amazing! No drone whatsoever.
