Success Stories Ford-vs-GM

So far I am impressed with my '09 FX4. Only changes have been a Magnaflow muffler and Nitto 285x65x18 Terra Grapplers. In the last couple of weeks we have gotten over 12" of snow with drifts that are 2 to 3'. I have had the pleasure of pulling out 2 GMC 4x4 diesels, 1 Chevy 4x4 Suburban and 1 Chevy 4x4 pickup. Sorry, but I guess everyone around me knows better then to drive a Dodge! I am not sure if it is the tires or the locking differential, but I have been able to go thru drifts that had the others stuck to get around to the front of the stuck vehicle when needed. The only thing I don't like about the truck is the traction control. Even after holding in the TC botton for 5 seconds, the TC kicks in when trying to keep momentum to bust thru deep snow.

I don't know what it is with Chevy's and gm's in snow but the only trucks i have seen lately that have either been stuck on hills or slops and in ditches are Chevy's and gm's. Even on hills that cars were going up fine Chevy's were at the side of the road sliding about. Be interesting to know why they cant handle snow or ice well. Did see one dodge go into a ditch though.

I saw a stuck gmc canyon thought about pulling him out but the only reason he was stuck is because he was driving to fast for the conditions I figured he doesn't deserve to be pulled out by a Ford.

I love these people. Think they can do what ever speed they like on snow/ice. I was going down the interstate about 3 weeks ago and there was not one car/truck on my side of the road and i was doing about 20mph as it was really bad. I see a car coming towards me in the other direction around a corner and he was going backwards out off control lol. No one else was on the road but he was doing about 50mph backwards down the interstae and hit the side of his car into the barrier lol. He was still there 30 mins later just sitting in his car still waiting for someone to come get him. I just pointed and laughed as i went past.

Last Wednesday during the blizzard, I'm going home from work maybe driving 30 MPH when I notice this Turdota tailgating me. Very few cars on the road. I figure if anything happens, I'm gonna take it in the rearend from this guy so I pull over and let him pass. He goes flying down the highway and I resume my grandpa driving. The road widens into 3 lanes and I watch this guy start spinning around and getting all squirrelly. How he didn't hit the wall or guard rail I don't know. Anyhow, he regains control and goes real slow after that. I slowed down figuring it was icy where he went out of control, but my truck kept going straight wherever I pointed it. I was doing about 20 and passed this guy. I could tell he learned something about driving in the snow. The guy driving was an older fella, you would have thought he would have known better. There's all kinds of idiots on the roads out there. Most of them must have blue light special driver licenses they got at KMart because they couldn't have passed any driver exam I've ever taken.

I have to say, and maybe I am the exception instead of the rule, but I love everything about the way my 2010 Screw handles... period. I still don't know where you guys are having trouble with traction control. Mine works if I am being easy to moderate on the go pedal. If is step on it, I can spin off all four if I want (well, maybe it's only three). Even on dry pavement from a stop if I stand on it, I get rubber as long as I keep on the go pedal.

I'll add that sometimes I get a bit anxious in snow just because the truck handles ice/snow so well that I can't tell if the conditions are actually bad or not. This weekend driving down the interstate, I was on black ice with cars spinning and fish-tailing, and only seeing them slipping around made me aware I'd better slow down. That alone makes me wonder if all this technology is actually a good thing. I couldn't feel any loss of any traction or control. It was like I was on rails. I find the turning a slippery corner the most interesting as the brakes automatically stop any fish-tailing. This 2010 is great. I feel for you guys with traction control that doesn't work properly. Hmmm. Maybe mine doesn't work properly. I'm sure it does because if I start out easier on the go pedal and it starts to spin, it instantly goes into traction control. If I stand on it, though, it will break loose.

Same here. Your TC is working just fine as your are being a sensible driver. I guarantee that if you tried to drive like an idiot in those conditions the TC and RSC will def start activating. Like they say these electronics are no substitute for a good driver. If they come on then you have put your vehicle into a Dangerous situation because of lack of driving skill.

Yeah, me too, but with 700+ lb-ft f torque, it's little wonder!
