Looking for door sill protector / tread?

Guys, I'm looking for a set of door sill protectors with some "grip" to make it safer for the wife and kids to into the new truck. AVS doesn't list anything for trucks newer than '07....need some help.

I bought the AVS 4-piece set way back in 04. I put the rears on my old 04 and kept the fronts. Then on my 09, I trimmed the leftover fronts and used them on my 09 rear. Pics in my album.

I bought http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ef=oss_product from Amazon however I really didn't like the gap they left on the corners and if you put weight directly on the corners it would "pop" the sticky tape loose. I have to admit I really didn't give them much of a chance after discovering this and threw them in the trash. I decided to go with 3M paint protective film and cut it to match the door sill area and really like the invisible protection it offers.

That sounds like a really good idea. I might have this done after I take delivery of my new truck.

IF you decide to go this route check out ebay seller "invinciblegraphic" (no affiliation)

There are few other makers of this type of film but 3M is pricey and far superior and this ebay seller buys bulk and repackages it for your average consumer.

I bought the oem sill protectors from ford parts. Just looked up make and model and exploded door parts list. They were a little pricey but I like the oem look no rough edges. They ran about $53 shipped.

Does the 3M tape add some traction to the sill, or just to protect the paint?

The 3M Paint Protection Film ONLY serves as a paint protection. But in all actuality if you have the factory nerf bars and use them to get into the truck you will really never step on the painted surface of the sill. Usually this area is just kicked/scuffed and collects pebbles/dirt making it prone to scratches.

LOL....had the factory bars removed at the dealer. I'm 6'5" and the only thing they do for me is get the back of my pants muddy when getting out. Didn't put much thought into how it would affect others......already got the lecture from my wife.

I can relate to that. I'm 6'6" and the only time I use my step bars is to wash the top of the cab. Other than that they are in the way. My wife is short so I can't get rid of them unless I want to lift her in to the truck every time we go somewhere.

I hear that... I never used the steps on my previous trucks... the auto steps on the Platinum though, I always use them... they come down lower than where the fixed steps sit which for me makes them far more useful for me at 6'2"
