Please advise …need help from all new owners….
Hello Everyone,
I’ve been monitoring this forum and gathering notes from everyone who has purchased a 09-10 F150 for about a week.
(I made a deal on one 2 weeks) The amount of input and advise from everyone is truly and honestly impressed me (…would impress anyone I’m sure) with the amount of sincere responses everyone has been given to each other.
A really eye opener and wealth of knowledge.
If you haven’t bought a new F150 yet and need to do your homework this is the place to be.
I WISH I DID… I MIGHT NOT BE IN THIS POSTION.
My problems is:
After reading all the these dam issues everyone is have with there new 2009 and 2010 F150’s.
I strongly staring to regretted my…Factory Order for a new 2010 Ford F-150 4x4 Super Crew 6.5 ‘ Lariat
Which I have traded in my old truck that I left with them and a large deposit.
With all these issue should I sell my truck before it comes from the factory?
It truly sounds like 09-10 is a LEMON?
And starting to look at a Toyota.
Any advice or comments is appreciated.
Cheers

Wow!
Well, I have to admit, after reading some of the issues folks are having with their vehicles, it gives me pause on occassion since I own one of these fine vehicles... but then I get in my truck and drive it and remember... oh, I'm one of the countless others that has NOT had to face these problems. (knocking on wood)...
Just like anything, there are going to be issues, and when folks who own a common vehicle gather, those issues will likely get magnified... while there are a large number of F150 owners on this website, they still do not represent ALL F150 owners. That said, for you to be in a panic of sorts about your decision based on what is posted on an internet forum is likely not warranted.
I don't believe any ONE truck/owner has faced EVERY one of those issues you listed... some may have multiple, but certainly not all.
In the end, it's your choice. Check your truck over when it arrives for the issues you are aware of... if they exist, either have them fixed or if it's too much for you, then back out of the deal.
Keep in mind, Toyota is not immune to issues either... if you've watched the news lately, then you know they have recalled MILLIONS of their vehicles (trucks included I believe) for a major issue...
Nothing is a sure bet...

Most all new vehicles have issues of one sort or another. Do yourself a favor and go hang out on the Dodge, Toyota, Chevy/GM forums and you will see much of the same kind of things (perhaps even more) being discussed.
My 2009 Platinum has had a couple of very minor issues...the tranny reflash which took about 30 seconds at the dealer while I was in for an oil change and a slight sag in my headliner which I easily fixed myself by adding more velcro strips. I am very happy I bought this truck and don't even think the 2009-2010's are even close to being "Lemons". You should realize that these kinds of forums tend to attract the more active owner's who are always discussing everything and as such do not represent the entire community of F-150 or GMC or Dodge or Toyota owners...

Keep your truck, you will love it. Everyone has problems. No vehicle is perfect. A lot of those problems are being fixed by Ford at no cost to the customer. Keep the truck and love it, I know you will.

All vehicles have issues. To come to a site where the majority come to look for help with issues - not necessarily full-blown problems - is pretty biased. How many trucks do these LEMON issues cover? One? Better yet, how many thousands were sold to generate this list of basically nitpicks?
You'd better just keep your current Perfect truck.
people come to these forums when they have a problem. you never here from the people that dont, like me. Ive owned many ford trucks and all of them have lasted over 200k and more miles with no major problems. my 2009 f150 hasnt caused me one problem at all yet!

I just sold a Toyota pickup to buy a 2010 F-150. I am very happy with the initial quality of the F-150, and I think it drives much better than any of the Tundras I drove. I will give Toyota credit for building one heck of a motor for the Tundra though! BUT the Tundras are also not being sold now for the sticking accelerator pedal issue.
This site is of course going to bring out every little nit pick on these trucks in case someone else has found it and fixed it. But think of how many people had problems....maybe a hundered vs how many F-150's are on the road....thousands. The ones with problems are always the most vocal.
Just make sure you develop a good relationship with the dealership you buy the truck from. That way if (hopefully not) you have a problem they can take care of it quick. I think you'll be happy with the F-150 SCrew Lariat though, I sure am.

I know I am one of thousands that have had none, zip, nada problems with my truck. I asure you if I did I would have sent out a red flare. I have been a Mopar man for a few decades so for me to finally switch over to FOMOCO was hard. My son can attest to this. He owns a F-250 Lariat Diesel. With that said, I am a realist and I know I will problably have minor problems in the future. Afterall parts are parts. But I am confident through this site and my dealer they will make it painless as possible. If Ford trucks were plagued with so many problems then why were they able to post a profitable year? But hey, its your choice. If you never try a Ford truck, will you wonder in the future what might have been?
DO NOT change your mind...get the new truck you will love it.You have to keep in mind that a site like this will draw people that truly love their Ford trucks but tend to be a little ****,like myself,if there is an issue with their truck.Ford makes an excellent product.Just enjoy.
I guess you could say I had a few good Fords. My first F150 had 187,000 miles on it when I traded it. At about 160000 I replaced the auto trans with a four speed, just because I wanted to. Did a bed floor replace because of rust. Traded for a 1987 Bronco, ran the heck out of it. It finally gave it at 236000 miles. Never did a single thing to it mechanical, did replace the exhaust. Hate to say, but the engine did let go, put a hole in the side of the block big enough to stick your fist in. A friend bought it, put a different engine in it and ran it for several more years. I purchased a 1997 F150 Lariat. It now has 297000 miles on it and i still drive it. I put a couple new spark plugs in it. New Exhaust, changed the front rotors two times and ball joints twice. And it does like to eat front brake pads. I think I am on my sixth set of tires. In my opinion the truck has paid for itself several times over. So when I purchase my 2010 F150 Lariat in Dec and my friend ask me if I think it will do as good as my 97 I just smile. I would never even consider a Chevy, Dodge, or Toy. I have driven Fords, Chevys and Dodges in connection with work (highway construction). These trucks get the crap pounded out of them. The Chevys and Dodges just do not hold up. Everything from rear windows popping from frame twist (chevy) to rear ends failing less than 45000miles (Dodge). I wil not even consider a Toyota and the company does not buy Toys for construction trucks. Oh yeah the Fords go from foreman to new foremans to flag trucks or to the quarries. They get passed down till they are just plain shot. Now this all said, trucks are machines, all machines are going to fail sooner or later. We just hope it is later.
Here is a link to some Ford video. Just watch The Truth About Trucks this should help make up your mind. Than hope the one you get is the one that fails later. If you want help with that purchase your Ford and enjoy, I sure do.

One last comment, the Bronco with the hole in the engine. I was on the way to the shop when it left loose. I drove it a liitle over a half mile with the hole in the engine. ( walked back the road and picked up the piece of the engine) It would have made it farther but the shop was on a hill and when I mashed the gas it quit.
