SYNC To Read Text Messages??

I know this is possible and have seen it in commercials, but has anyone gotten this to work?

I've tried it on two different blackberries and it says "unavailable (or Not supported, I dunno..)" when I enter "Text Message". I'm thinking the phones are too old to support this...

I haven't bothered to really look into it yet, just wondering if anyone had success trying it.

This is supposed to be supported in an upcoming revision of BB software. But for now, no Blackberry works.

BTW, the chart above is very inaccurate.

I was told by the guy that showed me how to operate my SYNC that there are very few phones that work with text.

I was told the iPhone's are the only ones that will support all of the Sync features. I can't verify that because I don't have one.

You were told wrong. iPhone users have a ton of problems. Take a look at the forums on syncmyride.com. iPhones don't support sync to read.

My Sony Erickson works great with SYNC... and, yep, it reads my text messages to me. I assume it helps that it is a Sony, since the trucks hardware is also Sony... but who knows.

There aren't very many that support the text thing. I know my Droid doesn't and my iPhone didn't. It is mainly the Erricson's that do it i believe.

I can use my "Direct Connect" (2 way) feature of my Nextel through SYNC. I still have to press the "talk" button on the phone, but all else runs through SYNC.

I would hope this doesn't work.

Isn't the whole point of sync and any other hands free device to enable you to concentrate on driving instead of fiddling with gadgets?

People seem to have lost the concept that driving should be the most important thing going on while you're on the road.

end rant

My Nokia 6133 works with every feature syncmyride offers. I just push twice on the voice activation on the steering wheel and say "read message" and off she goes and I can even reply but havent tried that yet. I have heard a lot of the older phones work better according to the discussion board. I do believe there is a update that I did and also dont forget that syncmyphone is a fix for people that cant upload their list of phone numbers too and that works great but you have to install that on your pc then manually put in all the addresses and numbers then export it to a usb then install it on your car system.
