20 " Pirelli tires

Does anyone find the Pirelli Scorpion P275 55R 20 tires give the 2010 Platinum
a stiff ride? I'm thinking about going to Goodyear P275 60R 20.

Any tire with a shorter side wall will give a harsher ride! What tire pressure are you running? When empty I lowered my tire pressures by 4 psi and it helps substantially. They were at max pressure from the factory and it is suprising how much this can help. That being said some tires are smoother riding then others but make sure the load capacity is sufficient for its intended use. Just my two cents.

moosesp i run them front and back at 35 psi and have a great ride and i have a shell on the back it has a better ride then the wife's s500 & yes running at a little less pressure will give a little softer ride.

i dropped the pressure to 30psi and it helped a bit, but i still think changing
brand will help. thanks for the input.

Also, don't forget that the 20" comes with " sport tuned" suspension. Which, if it means the same thing as any other manufacturer, it is stiffer and therefore a stiffer ride.

Not sure, on mine i have narrowed it down to the obvious.shocks, tires or tow package.i think i will try the shocks 1st because i get a little shudder after hitting heaves in the road.also,my pirellis seem to develop flatspots after sitting in my garage for any length of time in the cold.keep us posted on what you come up with.

i had the 18" fx4 rims and tires on my truck and switched to factory 20's with 275/55 pirellis and they rode like crap, the tires were terrible.

I just yesterday got a new set of 275/60r20 Bridgestone Dueler Revo's and it's a night and day difference. granted, the extra inch of side wall i gained going from a 55 to a 60 makes a huge difference.

I put a set of Dean Wintercat's in the P275/60 R20 size on my 2010 Platinum and the ride is significantly better than the Pirelli's. Not to mention the grip is top notch.

I think it has a lot to do with our cold weather as the Pirelli was very nice and smooth when I got the truck in early November.

I would agree with you mooshki. Those tires are a little stiff. I'm not sure changing the pressure would help much. My aftermarket guy sells all kinds of tires including pirelli. He's says that they are a very stiff tire even before you consider the narrow sidewall. I know alot of people are going with the Toyo open country MT (mud terrain) but they also have a toyo open country AT (all terrain) check those out

........just my two cents

I am thinking about getting either a Lariat or an FX4 with 20" wheels. What are some good tires to replace the Pirelli's with coming out of the gate? I plan on making a deal contingent upon trading the tires for something else. I had wanted BF Goodrich A/T's, but I don't think they come in the same size or near what they come from the factory.

Depends, what kind of look are you going for. Something like an all terrain but not a mud grip? If you go with the 20" with the Pirelli's, I would suggest your replacement tire have a little more sidewall/height to it. Two or three sizes bigger than what comes stock on the Lariat's Pirelli's should be enough extra cushion for a softer ride. For example, I think my lariat came with 275/55/20 so a good upgrade would be like a 275/65/20 or bigger

Can the computer be set to reflect the 275/65/20. With those tires, if your speedo reads 70 mph you are actually travelling 74.75 mph.

I think "sport tuned" suspension is on the Harley Davidson only.
