My parts

I used:

PAC MS-FRD1 Ford Sync Radio Replacement interface
PAC SWI-JACK JVC/Alp/Clari/Ken Steering Wheel Radio Control Interface
FD1442B Scosche Ford Dash Kit 2009 Up Ford F-150 Lariat & Plat. I, DD

The PAC interface is more expensive than the metra but I think it works with Sync better. It integrates seamlessly with the SWC and allows you to toggle the SWC between Sync mode and aftermarket radio mode.

If you don't have Sync or don't want to keep it you can get a cheaper interface. Note the dash kit was for a Lariat - the one that has 6 buttons across the top. Start out at Crutchfield. They will lead you the way to the correct parts. I bought from there since all extras are 1/2 price.

yeah, I don't have sync but do have Sirius Sat. rad

is there a way to keep the factory Sat. radio or does that have to be replaced?

I lost the satellite radio, it was built into the OEM radio (I had the non-Sony 6-disc CD radio that comes with the Lariat Plus pkg.) I think you could re-use the sat antenna though, it plugs into the unit. You might have to remove a plastic connector.

Not sure you would need the fancy expensive harnesses if you don't have Sync. So my parts list is probably not a good match for you.

looks like PAC has the harness for trucks without the sync, but it's $129 and then i have to buy the sirius add-on hardware also, really starting to add-up

does your AUX line-in still work with your PAC harness?

and what is on your top factory display screen now?

Sorry for the belated reply. The PAC harness enables the sync functions like the USB port and AUX line-in. It just channels it to the stereo as one consolidated input. You use sync voice commands to choose which input (USB, line-in, etc.). Your stereo must have an AUX input though. Set your stereo on AUX and then use Sync to choose your source. Frankly, if you get a good stereo (I got the Kenwoood 6160), you will find yourself never using Sync anymore. A good stereo does everything the Sync does for me. I do still use the Sync phone since it has voice dialing. The PAC harness recognizes when you use Sync phone and will mute your stereo magically. Note the Sync phone does not use the stereo - it outputs directly to the front speakers. When the phone call is over the PAC goes back to whatever you were doing (playing a cd, watching a DVD, etc. on your stereo).

On my top factory screen I still see external temperature and compass (all the white lit info stays the same). The blue lit info was stereo info and now just shows the word "DVD". If I am using Sync, then it shows all the sync menus and phone numbers etc. On startup you get the F-150 message briefly like always.
