Ford Vs GM Trucks

I have a 2000 Harley F-150 and I love it. Best darn truck I have ever owned. Recently I have been looking at F-250, F150 and some GM Z71s and even a Dodge to replace it. I was surprised when I was checking out a Z71 that a $43,000 truck had drum brakes on the rear axle. I know they are trying to cut costs but damm 'drum brakes'. Have any of you noticed anything like this with Ford?

I had an 02 Silverado that was a good truck. Got ready to replace it in 2005 and went to get another like it. Noticed the drums on the rear and the salesman said it was to reduce cost. I think it may have been because they had to replace a ton of emergency brake systems on the rear disks. There was a poor design. I took one look and said no thanks and walked across the street and bought my Ford. The Ford is much better built than the Chevy.

My friends 08' 1500 has drums in the rear. I make fun of him for it, even though his truck is fast as hell, damn 5.3's.

I'll take disc brakes regarless just for the ease of changing pads and less likely to fade under high stress. The rear-disc brakes are still an option on GM turcks, which amazes me. The trucks themselves are decent though, I personally think the styling is boring on the exerior of the GM's.

I am a GM guy, but the F150 had me when I sat inside. The interior is beautiful and it drives very tight and quiet. Plus I like the fact that Ford has made it on their own with no govement help. So I bought the Ford and have been extremely happy.
