Your stating the obvious here, and not making any point that I can see, or you complete missed my point. Are you saying that one oz over the fill line will ruin your engine? Are you saying that there are many occurrences of 4.6L V3 engines ruined as a result of this documentation error? Are you claiming you saved your engine from this common fatality by not running it at high rpm, because your perceptive powers allowed you to hear your oil level was too high? Keep talking, I enjoy reading your text.
BTW, the reason I'm waking up a dormant thread is because another Ford dealership in Washington State just over-filled it again (by an entire quart). I noticed we were billed for 7 quarts when my wife returned from the dealership so I checked the dipstick. Waaaaayyyyy over the over-filled mark. I called the service manager and he was super apologetic. Since I now live an hours drive from them he offered to pay a different dealer to draw a quart out on their dime. Yes, independent dealerships with different ownership.
Super good service. Now if they can just train their techs to be able to tell a 4.6L from a 5.4L V8 they will be exceptional!
And, yeah, if the oil level didn't matter he would have just told me to leave the extra quart in there and send me a check to reimburse me for the quart I paid for but didn't need. There's a reason there is an upper and lower fill limit.
