New Truck for Christmas!
New Truck for Christmas!
Ok, officially I picked it up just before Thanksgiving...
2010 F-150 XL. 2wd long bed, 4.6L, Auto, 3.73 rear end, posi, tow package. Plain interior, vinyl floor mats. Basically, it's a work truck. I've added a ProTeca rubber bed matt. I was hoping Santa would bring the matching tailgate mat, but didn't get it. I've got DeeZee bright running boards on order for it. I like running boards a little better than tubes, and I can get matching box boards as well. Getting the brake control installed next week.
I traded up from an '06 Ranger, which I was pretty happy with, other than the size and capacity. But it was exactly the truck I needed at the time, and sure was easy on gas.
Mostly the new truck is for back and forth to work. Unlike the Ranger, I can put a ton of pellets in the back of this truck; no trailer required. I'll make 2 or 3 trips this year helping my dad haul antique tractors, combined tractor/trailer weight of about 5000lbs.
Probably will replace the stock tires with LT load rating 'C' tires in the spring. For now I've the factory skins in the front and Cooper Discoverer M+S in the back (slightly oversized @245/70). Did some poking around on the board -- what tire to use sure it a hot topic!
So far, I like this truck quite a bit. We'll see if it works out to be as good as the Dodge I had before the Ranger.
