back up camera
There are a lot of variables. I installed the OEM camera in my SCREW. Since mine is an XLT the chassis harness did not have the proper wires going from the engine compartment to the rear of the truck. I had to drop the headliner and change the harness overhead. I then had to run video - + wires to the drivers side rear of the cab to patch into the harness going up to the mirror. I replaced the rear harness in my truck. Turns out that is a total waste of money. Unless you have backup sensors in your truck the rear harness gains you nothing.
This thread is long and some items are incorrect, but all information is in there.

Bump. My FX4 has backup sensors, but I really need a backup camera to get the trailer on. Anyone know if the facotory cam will plug in, and if the factory mirror with screen will also work? Thanks.
My first Ford truck. Love it.

I just installed the OE beckup camera and Gentex mirror in my 10 Screw 2 weekends ago.
there are 4 parts you will need.
Camera
tail lamp harness (with the camera circuit)
Mirror
Headliner harness.
Adding the camera and tail lamp harness was no big deal and was a direct plug in (need to remove the tail lights).
Removing the mirror was a challenge as it is a tight fit and you need to be careful not to crack the windshield.
We were able to drop the headliner by removing the visors, A pillar (both), B pillar (left) trim along with the weatherstrip. (the harness runs from front to back, not down the A pillar like I originally thought). The major challenge was the headliner harness. The one I received from Tasca was set up for an external Sync Microphone. We had to splice wire from the old harness to make it work.
We took out time with the overall instalation, and it works perfect.

Any part numbers or best costs? I asked my local dealer and he said the mirror with monitor was 800 bucks and rear camera w/bezel was 400... For that cost I could do a complete in dash DVD head unit w camera... thanks.
This is why I went ahead and got the camera on my F-150 and Mustang. It was only a $385 option on the Mustang.

The key is not to pay the price. The discounts on the F-150s are do big that, depending upon how you look at it, all the options are free. I can't say the same for the Mustang, but I still got a really good deal and it was part of it, so I'm happy.
