Radar Detectors and Laser Jammers
90$ Cobra, works fine, had it for three years. I never push my trucks more than 10mph over the Speed Limit. I have Police Friends in Illinois and Maryland, and their advice, stay within 10 mph and you will be fine. Not to mention speeding in a pickup truck is dangerous not to mention if you are rolling 35's, basic physics. Do what you want, beauty of America. I also don't like buying more fuel than I have to and the unnecessary stress puts on the truck and your body when you drive hard (although it is fun). Being on the interstate a lot (60 miles each day) I have seen some nasty wrecks involving fatalities and could have been avoided by driving safely.
I'm off my soapbox.
I'm off my soapbox.
I was referring to the futility of having a jammer that limited the range of the lidar to the range I can effectively estimate speeds. If I can't get a good estimate I cannot shoot the lidar.
In some states the radar/lidar is nothing more than confirmation, everything is based on the officer's estimation. The state I used to work streets on did not require a lidar/radar reading. Simply going through the certification course resulted in our estimation being valid in court.

On a side note, ever since I rode along with my LEO buddy, and he let me play with the hold button on his radar all night, I now realize how futile it is. If I speed, it's my fault, I'll pay the fine and say thank you to the cop writing me the ticket.

But the town of Greenup, IL they don't take kindly to rolling stops.... $50 civil fine.... but only because I was courteous.
Spending many years on the other side of detectors and jammers (if there really is such a thing) I can tell you their effectiveness is very limited when put up against an LEO who really knows/wants to defeat them. Many times when I stopped a car with one the person would say, "How did you know it was me I had my detector/jammer on?" I would just chuckle and say "sign here." When I walked up and saw a detector, I issued a ticket every time.
There are a lot of tools/processes that LE does that are not required. One of my favorite was DUI. The arrest and conviction is made on the street. The breath/blood/urine test is not needed. That piece of evidence just locks in the DUI. I've seen people who blew a .02 get convicted, but I've also seen people who blew .23 not get convicted based on their performance on video tape.
An estimated speed , doesn't have to be correct. But the dollar amount on the ticket goes up anyway. I just received a $230 ticket estimated speed was 58 mph I wasn't going over 45 mph. the limit dropped from 55 to 35 mph I had my foot off the pedal and was coasting down to the posted speed when the BMW in front of me jammed on his brakes, I went around him. Im sure that was what made the officer believe I was traveling so fast. I was polite and courteous. But when they run your license and you have a history of speeding tickets , you will never get a break. Having always driven muscle cars, and flashy rides I believe has alot to do with it. The insurance surcharge will last for six years and total more than $2500 over that time. Its B.S. revenue making.
Just my .02 real quick. Revenue is not what is going on when an Officer stops someone for speeding. We, as Officers don't see a dime of that money. Sure, the city, county, state, whatever the case may be loves the revenue, however that's not why I write speeding tickets.
As far as jammers, I've never had an issue locking in someone with any sort of jammer unit. My favorite is "it wasn't me, I have a $1000 jammer!" My response is press hard, 3 copies. I'm county and I don't write unless it's 12 over. However if you have a radar detector or jammer you may not get the slack of 10 over since obviously you are a habitual speeder.
