Wow Ford aint using tolernaces like Rolls-Royce are using. Im not impressed. My bed is 2mm of on one side and i might roll over when im making a tight turn lol.

Come on guys have you lot got nothing better to do. Go and take a level and tape to every single one of your cars includeing your friends. None and i mean none are perfect. Now if it was something like 2" out then i would be worried.

i agree with what other have said, you are making nothing into something.
I ain't making nothing into something. i just thought it was funny some were like your gonna roll easier, if you read the posts before mine. They aren't going to roll. i have a 97 i don't care, so why would i make nothing into something, it's not like i spent 40k on a new truck anyway.

Btw...if the new f150's are 8.8's, jack up the back and push one of the tires in and out. It slides in the axle tube about half an inch.

I just thought it was funny ppl think it's a safety issue Deano!!!

You could take your truck in and have a 4-wheel alignment done. If you notice the tech looking at the screen like "WTF?" and scratching his head, then you could have a frame issue. Most likely worst case scenerio the rear axle is off set to one side from the factory. More probable is the beds are some how being assembled onto the truck off center. As mentioned if your truck is driving straight and not "dog legged" than your frame is probably just fine.:santa:

After a long talk with my service manager and even looking at an '04-'08 model on the rack and pushing the rear tires in and pulling them out by hand and seeing they have a play of about 1/2" give or take, I am further convinced it's a NON-issue. He said it helps the truck in turns, but will go back true when driving straight and track straight when you let go of the wheel. He also said that doing four-wheel alignments on them helps with the truck tracking straight. After looking at the bed on mine with him, we can both tell that it is straight and lines up with everything else that it should, the rear axle just has that play in it. As far as the clunk in the rear end, he confirmed that it's just in need of the slip yoke being regreased.

Yeah, I was just searching the forum for info on what type of mudflaps to get for our new 2010 Lariat SC . . . of course ours is another Dearborn made marvel that is off at least an inch!!

So I can forget the mudflaps, and the last thing I want is the dealership "fixing" it, think I'll just get some of that clear 3M film like was on our older Ranger. Seemed to work pretty well in preventing some of the stone chips. (nice that the wide wheel is on the passenger side where it'll pick up more garbage from the road. ) Maybe fender flares someday!!

Why? Even it's off an inch, mudflaps will still help protect the paint.

I installed the Weathertech's no drill and they work great. Search for them here and at f150forumDOTcom.

Thanks - I was wondering about those Weathertech's. The no drill idea is sure a good one. Saw that someone was asking about them.

Guess I ended up on this thread and got miffed.

I'm with the shotgunman. Don't let this non-issue stop you from getting the mudflaps.

In fact, I had seen a lot of these threads months ago about the "one wheel sticks out further" bs, and thought nothing of it and never looked at my rig and never cared.

THEN, I put on some nice new Ford mudflaps, and the difference in wheel became very evident.

Know what? I still don't care.

I don't think it is the end of the world like some of the princesses that are wringing their hands and gnashing their teeth about it. I bought the F-150 because I needed a TRUCK (not a Camry). I got, we all got, a great TRUCK. This wheel foolishness detracts nothing from these trucks performing as trucks. Thanks

went to my local ford dealer the other night while my 05 was in the shop for tires. I noticed of 10 2010 f-150's they had, only 5 had this issue. All 5 were lariats or platinums with the 3.73 rear ends, the other five were xlts and stx's of them 3 were 3.55 rears and 2 were 3.31 rears. Maybe this is indeed an axle specific thing?? who knows, but I can see were people are coming from, although it would not bother me as much, but hey I get to laugh because when I go to get my new truck someday in the near future I will know the issues and buy the truck without the wheel sticking out, lol!!
I thought it was funny the more expensive models had the issue and lower models did not, lol!!

Ours sticks out and is a 2010 Lariat with the 3.73 rear.

Yup!! If it ain't broke I'm not going to worry about fixing it!!!!

Just washed the beast yesterday and planned on putting a little Zymol, P21S, or Blitz wax on before we hit the roads!!!

(I do have questions about lousy vertical seams that are visible in the tail light lenses but will do a little more searching before I post in a new thread).

Thanks!!
