Painted bumpers
Painted bumpers
What are those painted bumper like for getting scratched up in the woods. Now I not asking about plowing over trees just the odd alder or golden rod. Do the scratch just the same as the fender if rubbed up against a bush?
I just purchased my f150 so no first hand exp with fords, but likley yes. Chrome is much more durable then paint. This is why you see chrome or powdercoat on parts that take a beating. The process for both of these types of finishes creates a much tighter bond to the surface. Paint relies on the coating below which is why scraches often just "scratch the surface".
Can't comment on newer trucks, but my 2001 Expedition has painted bumpers. The front is pretty well trashed just from normal wear and tear. You may want to consider chrome or maybe having the bumpers powder coated.
No winters on my 09 FX4 yet and my front bumper is stock chipped to hell and rusting. My dealer just shrugs his shoulders and says sorry... then tells me i should have got a 3M plastic film put on... HOW ABOUT FORD FIX THERE 8 YEAR OLD PROBLEM!!!!!
I am trying to call a Ford rep in to take a look to assess.
