Luverne running board installation question

I just installed the Luverne polished stainless steel running boards (480923) on my 2010 FX4 Supercrew. I'll take some pictures of them tomorrow and post them.

Overall the install went smoothly except for the top holes of the center bracket on each side (and two seriously mangled knuckles... parts of the back of the running boards are very sharp!). All other holes and brackets aligned perfect.

The instructions state that you need to drill the two upper holes for the center bracket in the rocker panel on each side (step 3.4). The instructions are at http://www.luvernetruck.com/Product_...3__550153_.pdf

However, if you look at the left side hole in the picture below, you'll see that the bracket hole partially overlaps a very large existing hole in the rocker panel.

I also have no way of drilling the required hole for the right side of the bracket. It looks like a 90 degree drill adapter is needed to fit between the frame rail and rocker panel but that's my problem, not Luverne's.

Since 20 of the 24 bracket holes align properly and the only problem is with 2 of the holes that need to be drilled, I suppose I could just forego these 4 fasteners altogether. Or maybe I can find someone that has a 90 degree drill or adapter to at least get the right side hole drilled at the top of each center bracket.

Am I missing something totally obvious with respect to these center bracket holes in this installation?

Thanks.

The Undercover SE I ordered on 12/1 arrived at the local truck shop (Truckin' America, Menasha WI) yesterday 12/4 so I had it installed yesterday (I'll post about that in another thread). While I was getting the Undercover installed I noticed they sell Luverne running boards so I asked them if they could look at the bracket locations and see if I installed the boards properly. They looked and said it looked right to them. They said the two reasons they can think of for the center bracket problem are a) maybe a difference in the rocker panel hole locations between 2009 and 2010 model years or b) the running boards were put on the wrong side and the bracket holes don't align due to a subtle difference in the bracket placement.

I followed the directions and put the running board with the Luverne stickers on the driver's side so the labels were at the front of the truck. The installer then made the point that the stickers could have been put on the wrong running board at the factory (the stickers were already on the boards when I received them). I don't really feel like taking both boards off to test the theory, at least not right now with it being a lot colder outside.

I've asked Luverne to look into the issue but have not heard back from them yet. If I don't get an answer from them in the next week I'm just going to drill the one hole on each center bracket I can drill and call it good.

The boards look great to me and feel very solid. Assuming the weather improves a bit today (it's 20F and light snow now), I'll take some pictures and post them.
