Folding in trailer mirrors,no auto fold?
Folding in trailer mirrors,no auto fold?
I checked in the owners manual real quick, just talks about electric mirror folding. They stick out so far do they fold in manually like for in a parking lot, it looks like they do but i dont want to go pushing on the mirrors and F something up. I dont think they are the telescoping ones either.
Here is a pic of them (2010 fx4)

o so they can be pulled out farther and pushed back in, sweet. so looking at my pic, they are at the closest position to the truck right.
O and yea, nice truck you got....lol

Yup, they are in the closest position. A good tug on the mirror outwards will extend them out. They also take a good thump to fold them in, they don't powerfold like the SuperDuty's do, or the small Lariat (Platinum) mirrors do.
Yes, they are in the retracted position now. And like others have said they need a good tug to fold them in and pull them out.
Here is a pic of them on my 06 extended, you think they stick out far now....wait till you pull them out...

The folding gets easier the more you do it....
I have to fold my driver side in to get into my barn everyday -
Also got in the habit of folding it in when I go to an ATM or drive-through before I even go in.
Give it a good push - it will fold.

No, I really never keep them out, if I did I am sure I would have had them ripped off at least a few times with all the idiots on the road.
Honestly, I haven't hauled anything wide enough to need them extended. I've hauled a flatbed car-hauler and didn't need to extend them, as well as a 21ft ski boat. I would imagine when you haul something like a travel trailer or a boat with a 8.5ft beam, they might be beneficial. However, they function perfectly for most trailers and everyday driving: no blind spots.
Side note: you still won't be able to see your jet ski. I can barely see the handlebars above my tailgate, much less the trailer. Maybe if you have a double jetski trailer, but a single will disappear when backing unless you have the tailgate down.
