Wink Delivery Timeline w/ plants closing

Anyone know an accurate timeline how many weeks currently from order to delivery for a F150? My dealer tells me the plants are closing in December and the truck won't get delivered for months? What?!?!

Holiday shutdown maybe. I'm thinking your dealer is just another mis-informed idiot.

Have you ordered a truck or is the dealer trying to pressure you into buying one off the lot?

It is standard for assembly plants in North America to shut down for the last 2 weeks of December each and every year (also the 1st 2 in July for domestic name plates and the last 2 for the transplants).

If you poke around here you will find most folks are getting their trucks as fast or faster then the dealers are quoting them. Truck sales are still in the dumper so it cant be that long.

As an employee of the Chicago Stamping plant (we stamp out some of the panels for the trucks) I have not hear anything about a major shut down over Christmas break. We are only down for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day this year unless this gets changed.
So as far as the Truck plants go I cant tell you for sure but I will ask today if any of that is true and get back tomorrow with my answer.

Thanks for the replies. I'm ordering (well ordered today actually) and the dealer was giving me yap about the long delay and how much my current truck will depreciate in value. Yada, yada, yada.

You'll get through it. Just keep picturing that first day as you drive off the lot into traffic and everyone is staring at that beautiful new truck pulling out. Ahhh......

I just saw my old 2004 driving around the other day! Always makes me smile when I see one of my old F-150's on the road. I've seen my 1997 & 1998 a bunch of times, and my 2004 a couple days ago.

Not true any longer. We are only off the days between Christmas and New Years and they no longer give us the first 2 weeks of July off. They have been breaking them up for the last 2 years.

As far as being shutdown for a couple months.....not true in KC but I have heard they are shutting DPT down for retooling right after Christmas.

Definitely no rush. More so curiosity about the dealer's truthfulness. My last scab came out of KC so maybe this one will too.
