Question about gearing??

Do any of you know if it's possible to get a '09 or '10 f-150 4x2 with the 4.6l 3v and 3.73 rear end. I haven't seen any online looking at most of the dealers around my area(east texas). Most I see have the 3.31 with a few 3.55's in there but no 3.73 on a 4x2. I could settle for the 3.55 but would like to have the 3.73's if at all possible.

I'm sure they have them out there, but a lot of the people getting the 4.6L tend to do so because of gas mileage, which is why Ford pairs t up with the 3.31/3.55 gears. You should be able to find some out there with 3.73's though. It's be easier on you if you just get the 5.4L though.

That may be very well be true. I did go drive both a 5.4 and 4.6 about a month ago and honestly could not tell a difference in casual driving or when really getting on it. I'll keep looking. If I can find a 5.4 for a decent price that would work also.

They can be hard to come by, but they are available that way for the 2v and 3v 4.6L. My '09 2v has the optional 3.73 limited-slip.

The nice thing about the 3v is you get a 6-speed trans with a much better gear for launching rather than the dinosaur 4-speed they slap behind the 2v, so a 3.55 gear is still great.

3.73's are not available in 4x2 with the 4.6L 3V. You can get them with a 4x4 but only with the limited slip.
