Under the bed rails

Hi Guys, I'm another newbie with a Q. Just got an 09 SCrew XLT. I'm going to do a spray in liner and was thinking about pulling the plastic rail caps and covering the tops of the rails with the liner. Anyone pulled theirs? Any issues with doing this?
Thanks
DT

The issue is all the holes. It doesn't look pretty once you pull the caps off.

Ford uses the plastic "arrow" tipped fastners to secure the bed rail caps and once you break them off (when prying off the bed rail caps) you will have to get new bed rail caps... I replaced mine on my '05 and even though I was trying to be careful when removing the original bed rail caps....quite a few of the fasteners broke off when removing. I'd LineX right up to the edge and call it a day. Also, if you were to LineX under the rail caps and reinstall them - not sure they would fit flush anymore

Hotlap, that is exactly what my line x dealer told me. He highly recommended leaving the caps on like you suggest.
