console vs jump seat

My XLT crew came with a jump seat with the small console.

I saw the XLT, yesterday, with the full console (I think it's called the "flow through console"). I decided that I'd prefer this one, instead.

Has anyone done this change? If so, do you happen to know the part numbers and how difficult it was to perform? It doesn't look that tough.

Thanks

If it is like the '04-'08 trucks the entire dash needs to be swapped.

I don't believe its a "flow through console" those are on the FX4 and up. The flow through consoles also have the shifter on them. The XLTs have Captain's Chairs and a column shifter. I have one of those. The 20 portion of your 40/20/40 seats should just unbolt and the console should bolt right back in. I've seen a few for sale on ebay. Hope this helps.

Tasca told me that the entire dash is different, too, but I'm not sure why. I'm going to look at the one on the dealer's lot and find out what the difference is. I might just change the console, however, and not the dash. I can't imagine there being something that I needed from it.
Thanks

The dash shouldn't be different for an XLT with the console. Only on the ones with the actual Flow through could I see there being any difference since they have the floor shifter and it does indeed mount flush to dash. The console for models with a column shifter is a different animal entirely and doesnt go all the way to the dash; kind of just sits up in the middle of the cab and goes about 2/3 of the way to the dash. If you asked them for a flow through console that may be why they told you you would need to change out the dash

regular console

flow thru console

the regular dash curves back in the middle but the flow thru dash goes straight down.

I think that you're right, Big Chief. I just looked again at a 2009 with the console, instead of the jump seat and the dash is exactly the same as mine.

I'm going to try and find one and do the swap.
Anyone want to trade a jump seat for a console?

when i did that swap i found ebay to be the easiest to get the console. think i paid $195 shipped for my 07 150.

sold my jumpseat for $150+ shipping, so was only out about 45 bucks.

No the 04-08 will NOT fit in an 09. There is a thread around here somewhere lemme see if I can dig it up.

Same here, however to buy the console from the dealer is EXPENSIVE. Its a mass of parts and over $600. None on ebay for 09 in the last month.
