Weathertech Window Deflectors
Weathertech Window Deflectors
Just tried to install a set of these on my new 2010. Garbage is the word for them.
The design sounded great instead of using sticky tape on the outside, they go in the window channel. I tried the drivers side first. It fit fine until I had to insert the bottom of the deflector in the metal clip they give you. The clip goes in the bottom of the window frame over the outer weather seal. The clip collapses the seal and won't stay in place as it rides up due to the pressure of the deflector down force. I called their customer service department and they were useless. I asked if this part number was test fit on a 2010, as the P.N. said 2004-. They said yes. They get shipped back tomorrow. I hate aftermarket stuff that doesn't fit right. I'm going to keep my windows shut when there is moisture on the outside of the truck from now on. Problem solved! LOL!
I've used the tape on kind, but loose them a few months later. I wonder why Detroit doesn't put rain gutters on vehicles anymore. Must be the wind tunnel tests telling them they are loosing 0.0000025 mph.
They make great mats and floor liners, but these deflectors leave a lot to be desired! They need to stay with floor mats.

Try Auto Ventshade (AVS) in channel ones. I just put mine on yesterday and they fit and work perfect. They use double sided tape to attach to the inside channel but also include these nice little pressure clips which keep pressure applied to the bottom edge of the plastic to prevent the window from hitting it as it closes. The directions on mine said to apply to the back edge but I applied to the front edge too and all is well. Make sure you get the ones which fit 09 & 10 and not 04-08 because 09 & 10 have slightly longer doors and 04-08 will not fit.
I installed those in-channel ones, and am quite pleased. Yes, the clips were a pain if you tried to follow the de-structions, but I realized that these clips help guide the window over the vent visor right at the corner, nothing like the paper showed!! After playing with the first window for about 10 minutes, the other 3 windows took about 10 second each, seated nicely and have worked fine ever since.
Bummer.

I wonder if they sent me the clips from another application? There is no way the clips I have will work. I also wonder if the Supercrew doors are slightly different? The package said, "Supercab". I called them, and C.S. said the clips supplied are for both Super Cab and Super Crew. Maybe the clips I got are for a Dodge?
I restore old cars as a hobby and have fitted hundreds of doors and weatherstrip kits over the years and this is one application that has me puzzled. It has to be the incorrect clips.
