2009/2010 Leather quality question?

Does anyone one how the leather interior in the new F-150 FX4 compares to the leather in the 2010 Mustang Shelby GT500?

This question may sound weird to some but I am deployed and ordered a new 2010 F-150 FX4 Screw w/leather sight unseen, except for pics on the internet. I am currently in Ramstein Germany where I saw a new Mustang Shelby GT500 on display. I noticed how nice and thick the black leather interior was and the question, "I wonder if the leather in my truck will be this nice?" popped in my head.

By the way, the GT500 looks to be an awesome ride with its 5.4L supercharged engine. My wife wants one and now so do I.

I can't say that I have ever really looked that close at the leather in the Shelby, but I can tell you that Ford really stepped up the quality of the leather in their new trucks. My parents bought an eddie bauer expedition back in 97, and the leather in that truck just seems cheap compared to the leather in my new lariat. It is much softer and better quality. I have a 55 lb boxer who loves jumping back and forth between the front and rear seat, and she has never even left a mark on the seats or center console (which doubles as her jumping board).

I LOVE the leather, and the seats in general in my FX4. They really set off the interior and, to me, make it feel that much more special to drive. You'll love the bolstering on the seats, very supportive. They do a good job of keeping you from sliding around in the seats when you take corners and turns.

The leather seems fine. There is a basketweave or cross pattern in the middle sections on the FX4 "sport" leather. The only issue I have is that the seat covers don't seem like they are on very well. There are some areas where the leather is bunched up. Of course in the brochure it looks flat and plush.

I have driven a GT 500 and own a 09 FX4. The interior in my FX4 is different than in a GT 500 in my opinion. The FX 4 has a "plastic" protective coating on it, you can search the forums here under "interior" or "care and detailing" to see more on that. It seems as though the King Ranch and GT 500 have similar leathers in them. There's my 2 cents!

As far as I understand it, the "leather seats" on the F150's is leather bolsters with vinyl inserts unless you get a KR or Platinum, then its full leather for the whole seat. I would guess that the GT500 has 100% leather for the bolsters and the inserts so it would compare more to the Platinum or KR vs. the Lariat and lower trim lines.
