another tuner/performance question
I still have a 2010 V10 on order, but now am thinking about maybe keeping my F150 but with same mods
There are several tuners I see avail for my 09 F150. How do I know which is best? Our vehicles have many different computer codes and emission levels from factory, so how is power from one truck differ to another with same motor, but different computer code?
Also, do any of these tuners have an warranty?
Right now, this 5.4 with 3.73 gears constantly has the need to downshift, whether it be pulling into an intersection, or just initially accelerating on highway. Honestly, doesn't feel like a 5.4, and its not a heavy truck.

it's not the tuner itself that's the most important thing to consider- it's the guy doing the tuning, fyi some codes are known to offer bad things as far as oem codes go-in my case- slow reverse gear engagement as well as slow transfer rate to go from closed to open loop-phil
So even though superduty is 1000 lb heavier, the 6.8 would still have better acceleration than a 5.4 F150 with tune?
I need to deside soon, as the 6.8 just came in. Too bad I cannot test a 5.4 with tune.

I used a Hypertech Max Energy and it made a WORLD of diifference. 35 HP/ 42 lb/ft . THe truck will actually get out of it's own way now !!

The V10 is 4.10 with 6 speed manual. The F150 is 3.73 5.4 V8. Are you saying that even with a tune on the F150, the superduty will still have more power with load?
Its a difficult decision. My F150 still needs front springs and shocks to make it even, which Ford doesn't want to do. This will cost $1200 + a custom tune. Granted I loose, $5K on the trade, but I may be achieving the power I want. I also have to consider this is the last year for the V10 and manual transmission, so if I wait, I won't get more power without going to a diesel, plus a lot more restrictive emissions on the 2011.
