Haha, I replied to this on the other forum too.

It says FX because of the FX2 coming later. It's just a way to save money and have one dash for two models.

FX4 or Not?

Looking at buying a 2007 FX4, but nowhere on the dash does it say FX4. Shoud it? Nor are any of the guages white. Should they be? How can one confirm it is an Fx4?

The older ones didn't have white gauges, they had black. But every one I've seen has said FX4 underneath them. Either someone put an FX4 sticker on it, or swapped the gauges for aftermarket ones. What color is the interior and does it have Rancho branded shocks?

Black interior. How do you tel its the rancho shocks. And under the dash says P R N D 2 1. where the fx4 would be.

Wait, is this a single cab we're talkin here? If it's got that then it's got a column shifter. Therefore it might not say FX4. If it's a SuperCrew, I think they might have had a bench seat option with the FX4. Not certain on that though. I've yet to actually come across one.

Rancho shocks are white with a red shock boot and it'll say Rancho on them.

Even if it's not a true FX4, the only differences are those Rancho shocks, skid plates, and the subtle little interior differences. I think the dash has a silver diamond plate-like look to it. And there are matte black fender flares on it with painted bumpers.

The 2004-2008 FX4's definately did have the bench seat option. So if it has the column shifter, it would not say FX4 anywhere on the interior. (I have had both, 05 with column, and 07 with floor shifter). The identifying marks of an FX4: Painted bumpers, grille, fender flairs unpainted, and rims are a few more that weren't mentioned.
