I had the bed Line-X'ed today and the bed shell installed. As I was checking out those things, I noticed for the 1st time that the tailgate straps are not equal--not even that close. 1 is taut and 1 is slack even with my 170# sitting on the tailgate. Although I doubt this matters given the way we'll be using the truck, but I know it could be better. Anyone know how to adjust those cables? I already RTFM and did not find anything.

 

Both my '98 and '09 are the same way... I think most all Ford trucks are.

I don't think there is any adjustment.

 

A lot are like this. Mine are perfect but there's a thread on here with loads of people with same problem.

 

yeah one of mine has slack in it but as soon as any weight is on it they both get tight
