Towing with Cruise Controll

I have read not to tow with cruise controll on with my old SUV. Is this the case with a 2010 F150?

Thanks

Curious as to why......

I just pulled a 5K# trailer for ~350 miles - used cruise on the interstate 90% of the time.

It's fine for the flats but never use it on hills. The truck will try to accelerate hard to try and compenstae for the slow down and it will go full throttle on almost any hill. It's a waste of fuel and hard on parts if your towing a heavy load.

It really only works well on really flat roads even in the tow/haul mode. As stated, when even going up a slight incline, the truck will downshift. I was hoping it would be somewhat more adaptive to slight changes but it is not the case.

I have '09 5.4 pulling a 3000 lb. boat and can't use cc vast majority of the time. I can say that by not using cc, my truck doesn't downshift hardly at all, especially compared to my older 5.4 truck.

Towing on hills with cruise control on also makes your truck have to shift in and out of OD, causing it to lock and unlock the torque converter. This locking and unlockng creates a large amount of heat in the transmission. A hot transmission sometimes leads to a blown transmission.

It is also a safety feature to not use cruise when towing as you are not in control of the throttle. Any delay in getting off the throttle or on when needed can be very dangerous, especially when towing heavier loads.
