New Guy
Hello. I’ve been snooping everyday for months and finally decided to post. I have a 09 XLT, Scab, 4X4, 6.5 ft bed. This is the most useful vehicle I have ever owned. Got her last April for camping & Home Depot trips. I Know, a little over kill for my purposes, but hell why not. 6,800 mile later and I love this truck more now than when I bought it. No mods yet, just tint. Have a few questions.
1. Looking for new rims (hate the clad chrome). Want moto metal 951B’s, but want to take the tires off the stock rims and put them on the new ones, until I get some $$ for new rubber. Will I need new TPS stems?
2. When I do get new tires I want taller ones so the truck sits higher. Don’t want a lift or level kit. What’s a good size that won’t rub? What kind of MPG loss & ride should I expect?
Thanks for any input.

a 33/12.5 will fit on stock rims or wheel with similar specs.
why do you not want to level it out? if you have mechanical skills it can be done for about $120 bucks installed/alignment. this will allow up to a 35/12.5 on stock rims or wheel with similar specs.
you wont loose to much MPG with 33's, but it depends on the tire
if you jump to a 35, it will drop where you will notice significantly.
id also suggest a tuner, once you up tire size it will correct, as well as give you more HP and the truck will drive 10x's better than it does now. the tranny shifts much better, power is much more usable. it will be the best $400-$500 you ever spent on your truck.
nice truck btw

Nice rig, reminds me of my 05 a little. What motor do you have? If it's the 4.63v don't bother looking for a tuner yet, I've seen some charts and superchips/hypertech are not getting much out of it. Wait till PHP comes out with one.
I have the 5.4. I'm not too big on tuners or heavy moding. I don't want any warranty issues. I have gotten the front windows tinted & spray in bed liner. That's about it til I get some rims/tires. Can't believe how much I love this truck.
