"Should" be much better than the 04-06 5.4Ls. IF its not then Houston, we have a problem.

In this corner weighing in 100lbs lighter than his opponent with 400 hp and 400ft/lb of tourque, the new 3.5L EB Twin Turbo V6.
Strenths: Flat tq curve, Better empty mpg, lighter, aftermarket potential.
Weakness: Turbos expentant life of 150,000 miles. preconcieved thought of a "V6" in our might pickups, "ecoboost" badge on truck.

In this corner with 411 hp and 434ft/lb tq its the brand new 6.2L V8.
Strengths: Torque pig, size does matter?, perception will last longer, 6.2 badge on truck.
Weakness: Heavier, thirstier on avg,

 

a $100k truck that isn't even street legal... no thanks

 

It's no different from the FR500 road-race Mustangs (and the drag-pack Mustang, thought I forgot the name). Honestly, it's brilliant and I'm glad my favorite auto manufacturer has the gumption to build race-ready vehicles.

Some of that technology will trickle down into our real-life vehicles and it boosts Fords image.

How is the vehicle a bad thing? Is the 'base' model Raptor not enough for the street-going crowd that 'needs' an off-road truck that will likely see dirt for less than 5% of it's life?

Personally, I applaud Ford for products like the Raptor XT and FR500 Mustang...

 

and the Cobra R without A/C or a Radio because its too heavy for a race vehicle

 

It's not un-heard of, the dodge "Hemi" has 2 spark plus per cylinder as well.

 

Sat in a raptor at the dealer on monday. I would consider it vacation truck if I could afford it! The XT must be insaine.

 

Yeah, my dealer got a Raptor in recently. Doesn't interest me in the slightest, and really don't find it very attractive either (very wide and rather dull, even the orange paint), but I do applaud Ford for branching out and trying different things for sure.

Think about this, on the other side of the coin, you have chrysler bleeding to death and you have gmc struggling to remain relevant. And here's Ford making some crazy niche huge vehicle with bad gas mileage like the Raptor.

Guess I'll go read those articles now, sounds like there's finally some info on the F-150 EcoBoost out there. Nice. Oh, and whoever listed having the EcoBoost emblem as a bad thing, I don't agree at all. In fact, every year seems more & more people are caring about things like the planet, being greener, saving money from oil & gas companies, buying more & more hybrid vehicles, green roofs on new major buildings, business' designed with sunlight & shade in mind to reduce HVAC costs, etc. In no way would I consider the emblem a bad thing, in fact, every time I see one I think the complete opposite (and wish my 150 had even half the MPG of the vehicle I see it on). Just look at sales of vehicles like the toy prius and ugly Ford Escape. That Escape looks like it was designed in the late '80's/early '90's, yet it sells very well for some reason, my guess is the MPG since it's certainly not the looks.

 

That's it? Could care less about the 6.2 and the Raptor. And the only MPG talk was a hint that the 6.2 should be about the same as the 5.4. That's cool... yawn. I didn't see anything official in either of those threads regarding the EcoBoost. Some assumptions about it being 400hp, with no MPG numbers assumed. Ah, well. Some day I suppose.

Oh, for those who care about the 6.2, might want to find out if that 411hp is with regular fuel, or with E85. Remember how they touted the '09 as having 320hp, but it was only 310hp unless you used E85? Just a thought.

 

6.2 they don't have to play that shell game.

 

So the "jaw dropping news" was the numbers on the 6.2. Maybe the morons at pickuptruck.com need to read the info here at F150online. Dynotech posted this news at the first of October. So much for the jaw dropping news.

The 6.2 was supporting news. The jaw dropper was the Raptor XT!

 

I don't recall that. Did many tune-ups on the 426cid Hemi. Mainly talking about the 60's. One plug per cylinder but easy to change out. Right in the center of the valve cover. Just had to make sure seals where in good shape.

 

Agreed. I've owned four(4) F-150's, an Escort and a pice of crap Cadillac. In absolutely none of those vehicle have I ever considered changing plugs, not even once in a blue moon whisper of a thought crossing my conciousness. I rotate tires, change oil, fill washer fluid, sometimes change an air filter, sometimes change wiper blades, fill 'em up with fuel, and that's about it. I've never had to do anything extra to any of the 5 Ford vehicles I've owned. The Caddy, well, that is just a horribly made vehicle that can go flutter in the wind. Now, when do we get some MPG info on the 150 EcoBoost?!
