Should i buy an 2010 F150 xlt stock or 04-08 f150 Xlt 4x4
I am looking for a truck for under 25k. I live in Texas and do a lot of camping in my current 2000 ford explore 4wd. I went to look at new f150s and they were offering a 2010 f150 xlt stock four door with 4.6 v8 for $22,998. It has power windows and locks but its not 4x4. Should i look for a used f150 04-08 with 4x4 for the same price or buy a new one?
2010 f150 xlt Pros:
6 inches longer in back back seat
has 6 speed transmission
Better gas mileage
rides better
cons: not 4x4
04-08 f150 pros:
will be 4x4
Can do mods and upgrades on it like (lights behind the grill)
possibly bigger engine
cons: not as good gas mileage
smaller back seat
some upgrades i want to do are leveling kit, new shocks, intake, wheels and tires, off road lights, bed liner, bed cover and tint
(if you have any recommendations for any of this stuff please message me!!!)

Tell them if you would get the same truck in a 4x4 you will not leave without it. If they say OK, and come up with one, then take the 2010.
Used trucks are over priced right now.

ya the Xlt 4 door was 22,998 but i want 4x4.
You can build a 2010 XLT SuperCrew, 5.4, 3.55 axle, 4x4 for $35,000. If they are quoting $34,000 that means they are only giving you $1,000 off and even less if it is not a 5.4. There are better deals out there. Keep doing your homework.

Take your quote to another dealer and tell them you are going to buy the 4x2 from the first dealer, but you just wanted to look at the same truck in a 4x4 first. This will be your most powerful negotiating time. You will be amazed at how flexible they can be.
"Good price" is about 80% of MSRP before TTL. Since MSRP can vary by $8k, One cannot say $$25k or $30k, etc. Build your truck at www.forddirect.com and then take $8k off MSRP as a starting point.
I say as much equipment on a new 2010 model. The 6-spd auto is worlds better than the 4-spd, providing better acceleration and fuel economy.
