Unhappy Rear Seat Troubles

I have an 09 Supercrew and went to fold the backseats back down and the latch wont release the seat to come down. I found the release lever but was wondering if anybody else has had this problem?

The latch on the bottom of the seat is what is not working. There is the latch near the seat frame that actually releases the seat.

If you're referring to the latch that folds the seat backs down, it's behind the seat. Fold the seat bottoms up and remove the headrests to help you see down behind the seat. There's a little silver latch that you just pull up on. Some have said that it's really hard to pull the latch up, but it couldn't have been easier for me.

I haven't bought my truck yet, but I've been following a lot of the back seat threads because I'm planning out my stereo system. Would it be possible to affix some sort of little strap to that lever once you fold down the upper portion for the first time so the next time is much easier?

Should be a possible, I'd have to look at it again. It would just be what to use to make the strap and how to attach it and make it look like it belongs. Black web strapping would look best since it would match the child seat latches.

Can you tell what happened? Did the release on the bottom of the seat just come undone from the release lever?

Have you taken it to the dealer? They should fix this kind of thing assuming you are in warranty still...

Talked to the dealer and they said they will fix it. It feels and looks like the cable running up to the latch either came disconnected or snapped

Since it is behind the seat unless it is down, and I am just using the space to store some jumper cables and tools, I just used some string and tied it onto the latch, then did a loop around the headrest bar. Is it perfect? no, but it makes it easy to open it and is completely hidden 99.99% of the time.
