09 Bug deflector.

I'm away from my truck for the week out on the road, but recently picked up a 09' bug deflector to throw on the hood. The guy at the dealership told me there's pre-drilled holes already on the truck. Is this true?? Guess I should've taken a peak at a truck while at the dealer.

I don't have one on my 09, but I did get the Ford version on my 06 and the holes were there. A very simple install - I wouldn't worry about it.

the ford bug sheild uses the bolts from the grill and small brackets to hole the center and a u-clip to hold on the ends

Same as the 06 version as well. Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks guys. I'm going to have to wait and see what it looks like with it on when I get home, but I'm already wondering what it'd take to rid the F150 decal in the corner of the deflector?? Perhaps a small dose of paint remover on a rag?

Right - like the 06 version. Just loosen the grill bolts (10mm) and insert the bug deflector in between the hood and grill.

I bought the deflector you have and removed it 1 month later due to the very annoying whistling it gave off at speeds. It literally drove me nuts. At first I wasnt sure if it was coming from the deflector since I also installed the window deflectors, but to be sure, I did a test run by just removing the deflector and leaving the mounting hardware intact and the noise was gone. So that being said I completely removed all hardware and now everything sits in my garage waiting to sell it.

Good luck with yours...

I too have the factory bug shield on my 09 XLT...I do not remember the whistling noise prior to install, but it is there now. Was not sure where it was coming from till I read this. I never had this issue on other vehicles...not too sure why it would be doing this. What did you end up doing to protect your hood?

I installed a Ford bug deflector on my 09 and am experiencing the same annoying whistle at speeds. The manual says to turn up the volume on the radio. J/k

I put Venture Shield clear bra on my truck. I think the deflectors on '09's look awful and no need to worry about whistling. I had the whistle issue with an aftermarket grill on another vehicle and it drove me nuts.

I have the oem bug shield...there's a slight whistle, but I don't care...doesn't bother me...even if the radio is off.
