Help! Someone hit my tailgate ;(

I've had my Platinum for about two weeks.

Before the Flyers game today, I was tailgating in the parking lot with friends. We went over to a different part of the parking lot, and when I returned, I noticed that my tailgate had been hit. I asked around but no one had seen anything.

By the height of where it was hit, I think it might have been a school bus that was parked behind me but gone when I got back. This was an hour or so before game time. I spent the entire game worried about it.

Do you think that this can be fixed by an auto body shop, or would the price be equivalent to just getting a new tailgate? There was one main impact point, where the paint is removed, but it is definitely creased hard, and it lifted the bedrail up, as you can see in the pictures.

Thanks. I'm going to be stressing hard until I can get to a shop. Just my luck.

Sorry for the oversized low quality pictures, but with the quality as is, I didn't want to reduce the size.

There was a school bus behind me, and a tractor trailer not far away either. Both were gone when I got back. I can't figure it out though either....

This is a sad, sad day.

ouch man that really sucks

a body shop *should* be able to fix it
id get a quote for them fixing it and a quote from a dealership for a new tailgate to see how much the difference would be tho

It is hard to tell by the pics. Get three estimates.

agree. If it's a minimal difference between a new tailgate and getting it fixed, I'd lean towards getting the new tailgate.

800 wouldnt be worth claiming on the insurance IMO.

Fork out the cash, its a brand new truck, or deal with it being dented.

And get it painted, or find a JY with late model vehicles.
Sad to say ive totalled two of these trucks out, i work for an insurance company.

Thats a bummer man I had the same thing happen to me but mine was a bit worse. I ended up just getting a new tailgate it was cheaper than fixing the whole thing.
