2010 One-Touch Starting & My Key
2010 One-Touch Starting & My Key
I'm kind of amazed at the My Key deal on the new F-150's that allows you to program for specific drivers certain perameters for the truck. For instance, you can give your 16 year old son a key to take your truck out Friday, but the truck recognizes the key, and will only let the truck go a maximum of 55mph. Kind of neat. There are other perameters, but I can't think of any right now.
Also, how do you 2010 owners like the one touch starting? I tried it when I test drove a truck a few weeks ago, and it could be interesting. It's neat that if the truck doesn't start on the first try, it will try itself several times before quitting the sequence.
Some cool features.

GM has had they easy key starting functionality for something like 8-10 years. Ford and Chrysler are starting to implement that. Many OEMs have personalized settings for 2 drivers based on which keyfob is used, usually with vehicles that have memory seating. The extension Ford has of My Key new and is interesting.
About the one touch start -
My '08 & '09 kind of do this - even though you are using the key, all you have to do is "touch" the starter with the key and let go, and the starter continues to run until the truck starts - read somewhere that if the truck won't start, it will run the starter for 20 seconds, then stop.

explain the one touch feature? first ive heard of this ....
What i am disappointed in is that they have et to introduced the push button start on these trucks. Atleast the higher end models lariat and up. Atleast give it as an option

Hadn't even noticed this on my '09! I'll have to check this out when I head home from work this evening!
My '05 sure could have used it... there were more occassions than I care to remember that I didn't think it was going to start for me...

I haven't messed with this yet, but I do love that that seat goes back for you to get out/in. Also, I just set up the Sync. This was all new to me yesterday and I am just amazed and happy to have Sync in my truck. What a great tool and the possibilites are endless. Free for 3 years is aweseom in my book , you just doin't see that anymore.
For those that don't know, register at syncmyride.com and you get a whole lot more options with Sync than it came with from the factory.
