2010 Questions

Getting ready to place an order to replace my trusty 2001 SCrew but have some questions. On a 2010 Screw XLT:

1) Can you order a manual sliding rear window? The brochure has it as a "Ford Custom Accessory", but the "build it" sites don't.

2) Is there a difference between a 5.4 gas and a 5.4 E85? Can you get a gas engine? Mileage seems better.

3) Why do Edmunds, KBB, etc. list two different 3.55 limited slip axles, one a lot less expensive than the other?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1. Manual sliding rear window I believe is only available on the regular cab.
2. The 5.4L is flex-fuel, you can use either.
3. I don't see two different LSD axles, just the non-limited-slip and the LSD, the LSD being the more expensive.

I know in years past you could get either slider power or manual in the screws, not sure, but i would bet that they are steering away from manual sliders even more since the cabs are another 6" longer for 09+ so i bet its a good climb to get to the back window

Thanks for the input. The question about the 5.4 gas v. 5.4 E85 comes from the brochure I picked up at the dealer - the one with the blue F-150 on the cover. In a table on page 41 they have a list of powertrains and they have one set of data for a powertrain that is "5.4L 3-valve V8 (gas)" and another set of data for a powertrain that is "5.4L 3-valve V8 (E85)". Is this data for the same engine running on different fuels, or is it two different engines? The Horsepower and Torque are higher for the E85, but the MPG is lower.

Also, I think you are correct about the sliding rear windows and that is a shame - I don't need the defroster or to be able to reach the window while in the front seat. I intend to put a fiberglass shell on the back and with my current Screw I just use the manual slider to slide in long boards, a kayak, etc. from time to time. But I guess I will have to drop the big bucks for an electric... Thanks!

E85 and regular engine is all the same, its just a matter of the computer sensing what gas is being used, and correcting the A/F accordingly

The data is for the same engine using two different fuels. There's some debate on whether E85 is worth it cost-wise.

I've got the manual slider on my 2008 XL Supercrew and have only opened it twice... once was at the drive in to hear the sound in the bed... just to far away from the drivers seat... but I got a good deal on the truck.

Great - thanks for the info - now I understand their strange "powertrain" chart. I thought it was the same engine. Does it run the same on E-85? I'm sure there is a debate somewhere on this topic, but I have not run across it yet.

Once I order, I'll post whether the manual slider window is available.

Thanks again!
