swapping 150 for 250

may trade my 09 for 09 F250 V10. I don't tow, or carry heavy loads, but my F150 with 5.4 & 3.73 gears is underpowered on steep grades and I don't like the 6 speed trans on this F150, too much torque management. Nwver drove the V10, how economical is it empty?

The V10 is a gas hog compared to the 5.4. You will lose thousands of dollars in depreciation.

I say let the engine finish breaking in and throw a couple engine mods on it to give you more power and you will be happy with it and be a lot cheaper than an F250.

Expect 10mpg out of the V10. I wish that I was kidding but I'm not, it is terrible on gas. Keep the F-150

I have 15000 miles, cold air intake, and still poor acceleration on steep highway grades. It maintains 80, but passing power os slow and it downshifts into lower gear.

I'm comparing it to my 2007 silverado 2500 diesel with allison. It handled same grade, with plenty of passing power and weighed 6700lbs. I don't have it anymore, and want something in a gas 4x4 with same power without spending for a diesel.

Hahahahhahahaha... you are asking why your old diesel is more powerful than your current gasser. Are you even serious? Your diesel had about the same hp and a ton more torque. You want diesel power, I suggest going out and getting another diesel or adding a supercharger. I don't care what make you are talking about, but the half-ton gasser will feel like a pig compared to a 3/4 ton diesel. You say you want diesel power/speed without paying diesel prices? Thats funny right there, it doesn't exist. You want a gasser to compete, you'll have to put some forced induction on it (supercharger or turbo) Go through all that mess and you'll be spending close to the same amount of money as just buying the diesel in the first place.

My suggestion, either buy a mustang (or something similar) or stop thinking your truck is a sports car.

I would buy a diesel if it weren't for the new dpf but my thinking is, the V10 is still much lighter, and less restrictive in emissions than with new diesels, so it would have better torque at rear wheels

You do know that you can remove the DPF right? Although like others were saying, there is no way I would get that v10 gas super duty unless I absolutely needed it. Don't get me wrong the Super Dutys are great looking trucks but its a bit overkill for just riding from point a to point b in.

Just wait for the EB V6 F150 late next year.

Or buy a Stang.

Why did you drive a 2500 diesel if you don't tow or carry heavy loads?

For the power, excellent 4x4, and longevity. I put on average 50,000 miles per year on my vehicles

as long as you drive that v10 like a granny your fuel economy will be so so, if you drive it hard, well good luck because it is a thirsty engine. and going from a F150 to 250 when you don't work the truck is well, stupid.

and aren't you the same guy making a stink over the 1/8 difference in your ride height?
