Tuxedo Black

I was on the lot looking at the 2010's the other day. It looked to me like the black trucks have some light metal flake in the paint. Can anyone confirm this for me?

Yes, Boataddict.

"The New Black
Ford has created a new, industry-leading pigment named Tuxedo Black that will launch on the all-new Lincoln MKS flagship sedan. This deep metallic, like a set of jewels, isn’t an ordinary metallic that is composed of mica flakes but instead has a new flake derived from glass. Because this glass pigment radiates such a beautiful sparkle, less of this special flake has to be added, providing a black that glistens like never before."

Ya the 2009 is the last year for a true Gloss Black Ford truck. It was the main reason I ordered my 09 Expedition the week the 09 order bank was closing. The 2010 order guide came out that week, and I saw gloss black was being replaced with metalic black for 2010.

I personally do not care for metalic black, just looks dusty all the time to me, especially in direct sun light. Its also a mother to ever match metalic colors if anything should happen to it and need paint work. So I jumped at my last oppertunity to get my new Expedition in traditional Gloss black.

Dodge started this deal with metalic black in 07, I think GM was smart to just offer both metalic black and gloss black for there 2010s. GM and I believe toyota will be the only full size trucks left availble in a true gloss black for 2010.

Yes my 2010 FX2 is Tuxedo black and has lots of metalflake in it. To be honest I'd rather have a regular black like my 2007 Mustang but this was the only black available. In the shade you can hardly see it but in the sunshine it is very noticeable.
